  • remember guys, this is still fairly new technology. It isn't perfect. So wait a few years for flaws to be fixed.

  • still havent seen one of these on the road...

  • Bob Lutz is a Fucking Puttz... The Volt is an Overpriced, Over-Engineered, Corporate "FEEL-GOOD" Pile of Bull SHIT !!!! $32,400 is Affordable ! Seriously ???

Lets "GET REAL" America !!!. Cars for the Masses that are AFFORDABLE is the KEY Here !!!. Lets get the masses OFF the OPEC oil TIT !!! Lets stop allowing other countrys - Most of the them Radical Muslim - To Control our Economy !!! Its time NOW - not Tomorrow !!!

  • electricity still causes pollution!!! and as long as there is fossil fuel the big oil executives will never allow new technology!!!

  • Lame! Gas+Electric Motor= Hybrid ,.... no matter how it works, plug-in or not.

  • @kalargyi The differences is that a hybrid uses the gas to actually move the car, while this car does not. This is a big difference because now you can go long distances with no compromise to power with just electricity.

  • I knew a European was involved in the design of this car. No way Americans can come up with this by themselves

  • We purchased a Cadillac this year (good vehicle and it doesn't hurt to support the US). My concern with these electric cars is that the USA use coal to generate most of its electricity (very unclean). Also, batteries require so much energy to produce and they pollute via their acid, etc. Finally, maybe "reinventing" the Volt is not so bad; case and point: Toyota Prius (it just looks different).

  • Most of the time you drive that car, except on the freeway with speeds over 60 mph, it is driven by the electric motor only, is this right?

  • americans need to be buying american cars . why not put the money back in your economy. so you can stop complaining about recessions or bail outs.

  • Yes it is possible, Tesla and the rest of the Auto makers have done it. ^^

  • Yes! That Cruze is good!!!

  • The goofy background music is unnecessary and detracts from and otherwise good video.

  • WAYYYY better than the Prius. Love it - I hope it does well and that I can buy one in the near future.

  • Not a bad looking car at all. I thought it was going to look like some kind of ugly prius. This looks sorta like a cobalt. :)

  • What will happen to the BPs, Shells, and Exxon Mobils?

  • @Rudeinfw they will still own GM and all of us untill we get true Electric vehicles. look at teslas Model S. it will make this Volt looks like a bolt.

  • 40,000 dollars for this ugly vehicle, GM will never change...

  • @Batmanshack actually about 33000 msrp

  • The statement that you get a "tax rebate" is false. You will get a "tax credit". It means that even if you pay no taxes at all and buy one of these cars you will get the money. Where does this money come from? It comes from fellow tax payers. It is taking money from one citizen and giving it to another. A citizen who is being nudged into doing what the Gov. wants. The cars sales will be subsidized by tax payers.

  • @nearkolob so what? Go back to your tea farm. The govt has, within its abilities, the ability to redirect monies and tax revenue to push America forward.

  • I would have bought one, like three years ago, but now the competitors, like nissan, are getting on the ball. Poor GM, you miss the bus again.

  • only americans can be that stupid to convert fuel to electricity, then to power up electric motor. it's so unefficient. assuming the generator would power up the electric motors constantly, they would consume 2 times more than previous cars, and 4 times more than european cars.

  • @korencek HAI!!! it gets 150-200 MPG running on fuel and not plugging it in! So shut up. Thank you.

  • @Nastc1 you are too naive to believe that. that probably means with full battery and full gas tank. and that's what you get on average after emptying both.

  • @korencek 82% of all 2-way daily commutes in America are LESS than 40 Miles. Over 90% of all ONE way daily commutes are less than 40 miles. The 40-mile volt electric range is perfect and the range-extender will eliminate ev range-anxiety and make the volt the only car a family will need instead of buying an ev for city and a gas car for long trips.

  • I want one

  • that the music used in the video?

  • This car will sell like hotcakes when introduced. Plus the Volt is just the first of a bunch of EREV's that GM has planned. And I have it on good word that most of the major manufacturers have plans for EREV's as well. GM is in the lead but there will be others right on their heels. EREV is the future.

  • @juscurious do you have any ideea on the price .....or it hasnt been revealed yet

...still, i bet it wont be to expensive

  • The rumors are from 32K-40K. GM has been very ambiguous about price. They are only going to make 10K units the first year (90K second year) so there won't be any problem selling out the first run. This is intentional. This is such a radical new car that they want to release it in small amounts to test the design. There will be a 7.5K rebate. As time goes on the economics of scale will kick in and the price will come down just like big screen TVs. EREV's will be a force in the car industry.

  • Fuck the Volt !,

    Nothing drive's better than petrol

  • @henkwillemtenklooste - And I guess you have lots of experience driving electric vehicles to compare with your petrol car?

  • They could have put this car or something out better long ago but they just will not because GM and our Government are being influenced by oil company lobbyists.

  • They should use a diesiel generator...

  • It's spelled Diesel. And the European Version, the Ampera will be a Diesel.

  • Yep i was drinking when i left that one, lol. Thats cool tho, i wonder why america doesn't believe in using diesels as much? I know over in Europe they're very popular.

  • Air Pollution Regulations here in US are much stricter than Europe. However VW and Audi do have some new clean Diesels which will meet tougher standards. They tend to be the leader in Diesels. In addition Diesels got a bad rap here with the VW Rabbit being an absolutely terrible car. The damn thing made a racket and was a real hog. The new Diesels are much better but reputations die hard.

  • This video has answered some of my questions, but my only concern is what kind of long term environmental (and even economical) effects is this vehicle going to pose? The battery in this car has a limited useable lifetime, and replacement will no doubt be expensive. This is also no BMW- would a replacement battery be worth the cost? If not, what ends up happening to it? Driving a car for ten years only to dispose of it hardly seems efficient on the environment or the wallet..

  • jasonman: Do you drive a Toyota Camry and just angry because your crap is being recalled? How is the Volt dangerous???? SUVs are prone to tipping and small cars like the Smart or Mini are death traps, so how is the Volt more dangerous than a slough of other options? MORON

  • that music is miserable

  • good car

  • An EV with its own onboard gen. for longer trips, plug in at home for stadard use. I do believe we have a winner.

  • i will never drive nor work on a electric car. it is dangerous.

  • @jasonman1515 how is driving or working on an electric car dangerous? if you are going to post something like this, please explain your point of view.

  • Yes, electric cars are dangerous, gasoline cars aren't!Noooooo...!

  • Electric vehicle is a dream, which in our lifetimes will never be achieved on a massive scale . You can not build a car, including the electric one, without using oil-based polimers, not for at least 100 years, all these organic and biodegradable materials are a myth, and will never be mass-produced with the Peak-Oil in sight. Keep on dreaming consumers.

  • Background music is too loud. The comment is too low.

  • sorry ,bro

i will never buy japanese cars again

i payed 30 thousand for a nice looking truck with alot of problems on it

i will buy american from now on

I dont wanna feed those fuckers

  • no they dont bryan u idiot uv never been in asia, in china most ppl drive vw's

  • lets all by american

  • I bet that the japs will make one similar

    interior and exteior

those peopledont have their own idea

invent something that that has not been done yet

    dont copy it

    fools

  • what i can bet my friend that Japanise will make will not only make electric car like americans did, they will make it better faster and the look of a car will be like a real begining of 22 Centuary. i mean what would you pick, Dodge Charger srt8 or Lexus F? almost same price.

  • the only oil i use is the one i put on

mis genitales cuando tengo sexo(when I have sex)

    true)

  • You still have to make the power?

Also GM battery's suck 12V, 32V and there 300V systems.

Just put a cell in a Saturn vue hybrid one cell is upward of $700 + labor o and 9 more cells.

I love GM and its good to see new technology but people love push rod engines it's the American way. People don't care about gas mileage as long as gas is cheap

  • Wrong, we want a totaly new vehicle, nothing familiar. We are in a new era, make it space age looking.

  • I'm a huge BMW fan and noticed a BMW when they first stepped inside the GM Engineering/Design plant.

However, I have really high hopes for the Chevy Volt, despite having a huge dislike for American cars (GM killed public transit).

For the sake of our tax dollars, GM better get the Volt right.

  • I can't wait till Hip-Hop artists snag this car with dubs on it :)

  • lol thats going to be hilarious!

  • Everybody so excited about electric car, but here is the question - where will you take electricity from?

  • That mysterious thing is called power station :)

  • errrr power outlet?

  • Go Volt!

  • A unique opportunity with the gas engine charging the battery-pack is the engine will run at a constant RPM, giving the engineers the opportunity to null vibration and sound, rather than dealing with variable vibrations of variable RPMs. First-hand accounts are saying the "engine" is almost imperceptable when running.

  • Rear wheel drive please

  • We need a biodiesel plug in hybrid!!!

  • I hope to God that they test this car before releasing it. Someone should drive it across the country.

    The driving functions seem confusing.

  • LOL !!! All cars are tested for hundreds of thousands of miles before they are put into production and put on the streets..

  • We should support GM. Chevrolet has been building cars for people for a long time. Back in the early 1980's, many of us drove American Cars. And they were very dependable. The Chevy Volt is a great concept.

  • thank you you say what i try to say i love gm and what they do

  • tnguyen318 i agree with you 100% you are absolutely correct

  • whoa thats pretty cool. hope it leads to more companys makin electric cars

  • Great video... great car!

    This is the best technology.

GM.. your the only one to get it right.

All our government has to do is level the playing field for GM and FORD. Unfair Trade has to stop.

  • So so true.

  • thanks i was expecting everyone to just hate on this car on comments

  • This car will be the most revolutionary car since the Mustang. It will sell out for the first three years it is made. Just as the Mustang started the Muscle Car era, this car will spark the electo car era... Way to go GM ^

  • ok first of the revolutionary car was there GM EV-1 which they killed an it was sold out but u could only lease it. this car is just built to cover up that

  • Looks like they learned there lesson with the EV1 and built a real electric car now NICE!

  • @beyeriii lol the electric car era was sparked in the 80's with the EV-1. yes built by GM. Now Tesla will crush GM with their Models S. The Volt is a fail and it will flop.

  • @beyeriii dude, that is just sad... Pontiac GTO is considered the first muscle car, do you really think a mustang could take that honor? And the Chevy Camaro doubled the mustang in sales for the first two or three years. And, I see where you are coming from. Mustang started the pony cars, but the GTO started the Muscle cars. Muscles are bigger and badder.

  • Pontiac was awesome!!! I liked the Solstice.

  • we need extreme solar power cars or something !

  • "It's own gasoline generator"

    How?

  • how what?

  • It doesn't generate gasoline.

It is a gas powered generator that rechargees the battery.

  • An engine.

  • why not driving an smal smart in the citty and when planing an over land trip just renting an bigger petrol car ..... i have no car at all - the weekend i cycle to one of the car renting stations and get an posh car, the size i need it that day. (an smal on for the citty, an limusin if i´m planing an big trip or an transporter, if i want to deliver somthing ...)

  • Revolutionary, just like a diesel locomotive. Go GM!

  • What's the name of the music?
