You got it rite. If Linux was the only alternative to Windows, I'd be just as happy using it as I am using my Mac.
wtf is a kernel, you ask? Think of a kernel as the inside of a nut, where all the nutrition is. The shell is what you see on the outside and can come in all sorts of shapes, colors and textures. When it comes to OS's, the kernel is the core, where all the basic functions take place between software and hardware. And by solid I mean stable. Does that help?
I hate MSWindows.. I want to change but I am scared since I use a lot Adobe suite for printing design (are very good tools for printing jobs) I have see a bit of Scribus but needs some more things to be at the level.. but I would really change to Lynux soon !!
I got a copy of linsire 5 for free, because someone didn't want the computer it came with. I regret getting it for free :( I couldn't do anything with it. All the packages in CNR either didn't work, or were way out of date. I installed the game you were looking at (quake 2), but the sound didn't work. It is pointless in the end, when it is easier to just compile a quake 2 client from source than to download it from the distros repos. Not to mention it is slow, and buggy.
"Do you want to play a game?"...or do you want to use your computer? This sounds like a typical customer/new to linux type of question. There is a point to be made that windows holds such a large share of the market based on the abillity to play games. Then we grow up..or out of that. I would like to have a game rig and a linux system but since I cant afford both then Linux is just the ticket:)Lots of fun, learing alot, feeling pretty damn good. All is well:)
hehe, sweet, never thought I'd see the day. I believe that linux will easily take windows and mac by far the only thing that linux needs is a universal program installer for those who have never used linux and I don't mean a package manager, I mean something th install software you have just downloaded or something like that

I love Linux. If I didn't have a Mac, I'd be happily content with wiping a PC in favor of a solid kernel.
Btw, love the "COMPUTER" neon in the background, haha.

yes an universial packet format is nessesarie to get Linux on the Desktops.
Perhaps CNR might be the best solution, CNR works will word with Ubuntu, Linspire, Suse and many more.
