  • Podivej se na muj "Katate-maki tutorial (part 2)" video.

  • Hey i have a question i just bought a katana to work on but i was wondering a few things A) where would i get the materials for tsukamaki, if there are any places other then the internet and B) would you offer these services?the katana i have is just a showpiece and i want to get it redone or redo it myself,id rather be informed. Thank you a quick response would be favorable.i might need to sell it soon*i need the space* but i want it to be redone nicely.

  • Fred Lohman's company in US,or Namikawa in Japan,i always order from Namikawa.

Yes i can do koshirae/polish work, but mind you I'm from Europe,so shipping a sword to me will cost you around 40 bucks.

  • @Revan9729 oh well aslong as you can do tsukamaki on the katana. then thats all i really need but the polish would be nice.Im gonna try and look around my local area to see if i can find a tsukamaki place but if i can't would it be a problem to ask you to do it.and also what are your wages?

  • Well that depends, who provides material, what kid of ito you want, lately i mostly work with gawa (leather) it's a bit more expensive but well worth the price,at namikawa best quality leather costs around 12$ per meter (you need around 4m for standard katana tsuka)plus shipping, silk is only a few dollars cheaper, what style of tsukamaki do you want. Also do you need new samegawa,do you want it lacquered in black, tell me exactly what you have in mind and I'll tell you the price.

  • Chack out Thomas L. Buck's site for different tsuka maki styles,i mostly do katate maki, sometimes tsumami or hira maki, and of course regular hineri maki. For the wrapp alone my fee is 90$.

  • can you show a video of how to wrap a tsuka?

  • I recommend you check out Thomas L. Buck's site if you're interested in tsuka-maki,you'll find everything you need there.

  • Where did you get the lace used to complete the handle?

  • Namikawa hebei co.

  • Great

  • Thanks.

  • holy shit, i cannot believe the arsenal of katanas you have

  • Now i have about 35 swords.

  • wow lol i wish i had 1 made by a master i only have ones that i have made myself o and heres your name Johan right? in Japanese ヨハン and Korean 요한 so that you can inscribe it onto your swords good luck

  • ljepo nije loše

  • Hvala kolega.

  • Again beautiful work, how long did it take you to get this good ?

  • Thanks, about a year.

  • you're an artist with tsuka maki man, i really gotta get more practice.

  • Yeah, it takes some time, but you can learn if you practice.

  • That looks really nice. The tsuka has a real nice shape to it now.

The silk is much easier to work with is it? I can see that it looks much nicer.

  • Yeah the silk is awesome,it can be pulled extremely tight and the diamonds stay nice and even, also you don't have to worry about it snapping, like the gawa (leather) that snapped on me few days ago,and it's even more expensive than silk.

  • Thanks for the info. I know what I'll be looking for when I want to try my had at another wrap.

  • Excellent work yet again man! HOLY CRAP you have a freaking TON of swords! VERY NICE!

  • Thanks mate.
