  • hes gay he cant sing..Lea is the real star here..he sings like fruit cake..haha.....Lea is the butterfly who is flying here....the guy is just the fruitcake salad..haha

  • Truly the best Lea!

  • goosebumps..

  • Fake and Gay!

  • chillsssssss

  • My friends called me "old fashion" because i love listening to Classical music and I love watching Broadway. Well....... guess what! I don't care if im old fashion..... i just dont like the pop music my classmates are listening nowaday......

An amazing broadway show like "Miss Saigon" always brightens up my day. This is called true music becuz not only its beautiful... its a Classic.... and it shall always stay with us ♥

  • I have a broadway DVD called "Hey, Mr. Producer" at home and i believe this clip is from that DVD (?). Since i was little, i love watching Broadway (i have watched that DVD for over 10 times) but when i was little, i always skipped this song because i don't know the plot and don't understand the song...... now understanding the plot... I really wanna watch the Broadway... with Lea Salonga and Simon Bowman in it.They are still the best version of Miss Saigon ever... and will always be the best ♥

  • I am a filipino but I am only 17 so I really don't know why Leah is SO popular all over the world because of portraying kim. THANK YOU for your comments and sharing your experience to us. Now I know. :)

  • I love Simon's vibrato, especially perfect for the buoyancy of this song. Two young lovers ignited. Love the balance and blend.

  • This is absolutely the best version. Of course Lea's voice is beautiful blending so well with Simon's voice that totally fits the role of a young man in love.

  • You are so right. This a real treasure that could benefit the young.

  • lots of kissing there aye?

  • I LOVE YOU LEA SALONGA!!!!!!!! she has the most amazing voice... ♥

  • So much chemistry. They were so amazingly, brilliantly, awesome! They're voices blended perfectly. And it was just so...perfect!!

  • i bet he loved kissing her.

  • Is it me or is this song a bit rushed? I could've sworn it was a tad slower, the upbeat. Also...isn't it weird that they casted her as princess Jasmine, an INDIAN princess? I'm not saying she's bad, i love her voice, i just find it odd.

  • @DSmoothMike

Aladdin is a cartoon. Does it really matter all that much what ethnicity the voice actors are?

  • @DSmoothMike

    Jasmine is Arabic, not Indian...

  • So glad I have this cast Cd.... they are the best... I've heard many recordings of this and nothing comes close to the emotion this cast gives...

  • I think they should make a DVD of the original LONDON CAST of Miss Saigon for the younger generation who were not fortunate enough to actually hear the voices of Lea and Simon! thank you for posting this up!

  • Wow

  • too much kissing

  • amaaaazing voices

  • I don't know what your problem is with Simon's singing but I think he sounds fantastic in this role. I have been singing for 40 years in rock, jazz and theatre shows and I would love to meet him and tell him face to face how great I think he is.

    Robin

  • I consider it the mark of a good singer that Lea sounds as good in a live performance like this as she does in a studio recording. Talk about the real deal :D

  • if simon bowmen had like a latin sort of accent he'll sound mean not that i no anything just sayin been listening to alot of latin music lately lol

  • duets in musicals tell such a story. Bought the CD when it first came out.

  • probably gonna get shit for this from all the haters- i wish i could feel what these characters felt again with my ex-girlfriend. i miss her....

  • @MrUSMC4lif yup lol but owel shit happens

  • great video ty for posting .... what a great show and song ...

  • Admittedly, the reason to watch this is for Ms. Lea Salonga. However, ended up wondering if Simon Bowman's vocal coach was either part or all billy goat....where did that vibrato/tremolo come from? Well, he's had a better career than I have, so what do I know?

  • @macraeman

This vibrato never stopped him from starring in lead roles in all the big West End shows. You should delve a little deeper, he is a very talented artist and covers a wide range of styles.

  • The original cast just can't be compared to, so glad I had the privalege of seeing these two wonderful artists. Such a beautiful song, beautifully sung!

  • Blonde chorus member... can't she wear a wig? I don't know. :P

  • They really look in love. Such a pretty song - a song played on a solo saxophone.

  • gave me shivers at parts. and it's like 80+ degrees outside

  • When i went to watch the play I can't stop crying so beautiful and the people sitting behind me also blowing their nose wipping their tears the sorg is so real.*****!!

  • proud to be pinoy!!!!!!!!!!

  • simon bowman is so cute.

  • I wonder why the name. Miss Ho Chi Minh City rolls of the tongue better jks.

  • They have amazing chemistry in this performance.

  • this is kinda creepy, but i love how lea drags simon's lip (?) @ :52

  • 0:15 Best Performance ☆☆☆☆☆

  • does anyone know what year this was in? This must have been at least 5 years after the show opened in 1989...

  • I have seen many versions of Miss Saigon, and the best is still Lea and Simon. They have a romance in them that is really beautiful to watch. Simon is just sexy. Lea's voice, really hard to match! Wish I saw them in the actual play myself.

  • si Lea Salongga ang the best,,,si charisse pangkaraniwan lang yan,,kakaiba si Lea

  • @tinaandbeau2008 what the fuck are you talking about?

  • a girl in her 18 who neverfell inlove at her age kissed the guy.. heheh.. that was just nothing

  • the best song for duet!

  • Ok... PERFECT COUPLE!

  • Shes deff older than 17 in this video.

  • @xoxtinysingerxox This was years after the show opened on the West End.

  • @xoxtinysingerxox right..she's 18.

  • I can't believe she's only 17. It's crazy.

  • From Michigan to Miss Saigon

"Vino's sin", said she as she staggered to the door,

He lied beyond the bridge of consciousness, there on the floor.

It was a night of celebration - or terror,

    Depending on the information sharer.

One thing was certain, though, she was gone,

And he would know agony's groan, before bird's morning song.

He wondered if she were a beautiful dream after a nightmare, demon throng

  • (continued)

That he conjured up in his mind after serious injury's wrong.

The years of wallowing in pain in an arsenal arcade

Of misery and suffering in an other world slave trade -

Living day to day between delirium and enrage -

Now this woman - beautiful and Asian, in his dream,

Agreeing to marry him after some Asian policeman's whistle scream.

It was rather surreal, but it left him happy and relieved from the steam

That held him anchored immobile in this treacherous, familiar beam.

  • wishing to direct something like this... so amazing!

  • What year was this? It shows how beautiful Lea Salonga is, Simon Bowman has aged so much now but she looks hardly older than she does here

  • @itbejess I don't know what year this video was taken but I know that she got the part at age 17.

  • Who's here because the world's supposed to be ending tomorrow? (Last night of the world)

  • This is real singing, real talent. Compare this to the rubbish manufactured stuff you get on the radio.......

  • So beautiful. Makes me cry every time x

  • I want to believe that this cant be real. their voices are like digitally edited. theyre singing live and its sooo unbelievable that God gave them miracle voices. they are really gifted.

  • 30 people will never know true love ... :( I feel sad for them

  • This beauty of voices causes pain. I don't think it could be better. They too seem in love.

  • I was able to watch Miss Saigon in Broadway on it's last year and it was the most romantic Broadway musical I have ever seen. I regret not watching again. Lea is the Best!!!

  • I think Bowman is trying too hard to hide his accent. It makes his vowels sound weird. I'd rather hear an American soldier with a British accent if it results in a better performance.

  • Shes amazing :)

  • I like their voices, wasn't that much a fan of the song. The "solo saxophone" line seemed cheesy (at least out of context).

  • @PortiaOfBelmont you're right, it doesn't make sense out of context. But in the story they first meet and dance while someone plays the sax.

  • bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she's the best ever....that's all i can say...very humble too...not like the new singers we have right now....

  • Miss Saigon needs an "Anniversary" this far better than any other musical!!!

  • We need an anniversary special of Miss Saigon, pronto!

  • My mom and sis loved this musical. My mom said she wanted to beat a white man after watching the musical. lol. That's how much she was affected by Kim.

  • Have seen this 5 times, amazing. Still gives me goose bumps. xx

  • yuck she kissed kramer haha

  • she opens her mouth so wide, and her throat is open. WHY CAN'T ALL SINGERS TAKE SOME LESSONS FROM LEA SALONGA!?

    seriously, wow.

  • @Josiieeeeeeee Theatre actors and actresses have to enunciate well when doing plays so the audience can hear the words she say. ;)

  • I just love how they part lips just in time to sing the lyrics.. :-)

    Sakto lagi! Walang mintis. :-)

  • OMG have to sing this at a proformance no way am i that good

  • the guy likes kissing too much... hahaha....

  • Has anyone heard the Michael Ball version of this? It's quite good as well :)

  • @carriewhite410 yes, I have heard it and totally love it way better than the Simon Bowman's version

  • What a spectacular performance! I feel like i am also one of the audiences watching the show.

  • I was crying to see this... ;') LOVE IT!

  • omg!!! can anyone tell me if simon bowman and lea salonga have more videos like this???? i want it so bad.....specially their sun and moon scene from miss saigon...ahhh i really wanna see the complete scene....

  • Their voices are perfect for each other. Everything from their vibrato to their emotional commitment makes this performance so special. These two will always be my Kim and Chris!!!

  • I missed the dog clip now.

  • Me singing I'd give my life for you ..please let me know what you think

  • Most beautiful moment in a musical EVER.

  • "Last Night of The World"----I love this song so much. It resonates and penetrates to the deepest parts of your existence. Nothing like it. I love Simon Bowman and Lea Salonga forever. They have portrayed the meaning of Love to the fullest sense of the word "LOVE". I love you to death---specially the pianist from France--if he is single I would like to propose marriage to him. I think he is a very romantic and loving and kind soul. I LOVE YOU SIR.......

  • Still remember Lea and Simon performing this on Children in Need (prob more years ago than i care to remember) - Fantastic

  • the best version ever. no one beats the original London cast. this one's my favorite. wow! full of passion.

  • nobody can beat lea salonga...i'm proud to be FILIPINO

  • i love how they kiss in between lyrics

  • LALALALALA MISS SAIGON, LALALALALALA MISS SAIGON

  • I'm a filipino and i can say that lea salonga is one of the philippine's pride .

  • @lion58986 and we Filipinos became the minstrels of the sorrow and hardships that the Vietnamese endured when they escaped postwar Vietnam by sailing to our shores in the Philippines.

  • this is almost my all time favorite song.

  • Best performance ever. Simon and Lea's voices together are magical!!!!

  • ang daming kissing scene...gusto ko na ring mag saigon

  • @sucksviacom hahahahhaha lolz dahil ba sa kissing scene lalo na kung ganyan ka guwapo HAHAHHAA

  • That well known play mentioned Saigon's woman - Vietnamese, but in fact it has never been played in Saigon - my home town where i live. I wonder Y ??? And mostly the young generation in my country dont even know about the existing of that play but my lecturer - a phillipinese - she does.

  • By the way people in Vn just know Miss Saigon as a brand of perfume kakakaka

  • @aslongasyouloveme269 you meant a filipino? and are you serious? @-) it was quite famous i think. i got to watch this in the philippines as a child. i'm just not sure if it was leah salonga who played the lead's role.

  • @perfectlalala sure, you can ask any Vnmese you know who is living in Vn

  • greatest performance ever!!!!!

  • lea salonga and simon bowman are among the reasons why i love music... :-)

  • I love Lea. <3

  • she look younger than her age. She's not just talent and brain..she's very beautiful. with a very good personality..OMG..she's PERFECT.

  • i can still remember when Miss Saigon was played by my classmates and schoolmates way back in highschool..i fell in love with it..im still looking for full Miss Saigon full play on line..hmn. help?..haha. thanks. peace. :))

  • sigh...

  • There are many times where I feel Saigon is far more romantic and better than Phantom.

  • @musicalphantom2010

Hmm, that's bc it draws on 'cheap heat'. Take the most obvious situation and dramatize it (like a male Dr. who falls in love with his patient, then has to operate on her).

This play also heavily incorporates the story of Madame Butterfly to also get that reaction (ie the child, foreigner already married). Overall good musical, and very touching scenes, particularly the vietnam war related ones, but like Titanic, over romanticizes a couple in it cheap n easy.

  • @musicalphantom2010 That's because it is soo much more realistic, and so much better writing.

  • @musicalphantom2010 maybe because it is...phantom of the opera is kinda dark..i still like it..but miss saigon is my all time fave..

  • @musicalphantom2010 Although it's not harder to be more romantic than Phantom.

  • such a beautiful performance from one of my favourite musicals

  • simon is the best chris ever I wish i'd seen him live

  • Exemplary performance!

  • T_T

  • spot on

  • Great tribute!

  • goosebumps...

  • BRAVO!

  • Woww!! Is he a tenor? So beautiful!!

  • wow... emotion is over flowing!!wow!!!

  • She is so good .

  • i saw Miss Saigon on the very 2nd performance ever

  • @marekgothfather How was it? :-)

  • I saw Simon Bowman as Valjean in Les Mis in the West End a couple of months ago...AMAZING!! and of course love lea <3

  • i have had very high expectations on her that I got dissapointed on this one.... I didn't feel anything...

  • simply amazing, I wish this was still in the West End. Lea's voice can't be matched!

  • a song played on a solo saxophone

    ah my fave line :D

  • like SIMEULBESGEE i to always wanted to see miss saigon but never did see it thanx for posting.wonderfull

  • thanks for posting, always wanted to watch miss saigon but never had chance.

  • my favorite part of the play!!!!

  • Whats miss sweetness on about this is showbizz love the best singer gets the job. Enyway chris is played by a british guy "acting" american

  • somehow it's weir that the kiss each other all the time in between their cues xD but it's incredibly sweet and awesome. and Lea Salonga is just perfect.

  • so sweet and romantic

  • somehow, i think it's a pity for the vietnamese, that the main role (a vietnamese) is played by a phillipean =(

nevertheless i think there wouldn't be anyone who could have done it better than she did!

  • @DeniedSweetness it's not phillipean.. People who come from Philippines are called Filipinos. just to set the record straight. :)

  • @rfcruzate aah, thanks :)

i was too lazy to look up the word .__.

  • @DeniedSweetness Haha, sorry. Didn't realise someone else already made the correction. :]

  • Filipino* not Phillipean, lol :P
