There is a way to keep the dog without finishing the quest..

Just follow him to the first cave, then speak with the statue and take the axe thing, then just leave and you got the dog as a companion (:

im @ 8:11 just talked to the statue now i can find the way out of the cave, do you go back the way you came? or is there another way out? iv been looking for the way out for like 45m now

i watched this after getting the quest and i kept barbas instead of retreiving the axe and hes a powerful figher never dies but one downside is that i puches me and i cant see my sneak status because " barbas sees me but i think i wil keep him anyway ^^
