Bill Elliott is the poster boy for Ken Squier's well-known phrase, "43 common men doing uncommon things." He was so popular with the fans because he wasn't any different from them and he didn't act like a bigshot. He was thrilled to death to win the Daytona 500, the Winston Million, the Winston Cup, and later the Brickyard 400, but he never let that success get to his head. It never changed who he was.
awesome bill, ive met him 4 or 5 times hes a great guy. one time he was in walmart shopping and me and him bullshitted for like 5 mins, just a normal humble guy
happiest day of my life i wasn't old enough to remember him winning back in 1994 became his fan in 95 was starting to believe that I'd never have my driver win still ranks as the best day of my at that point 10 year old life
Million Dollar Bill!! Record setting 11 wins (85')in addition to winning the Winston Million(Daytona,Darlington,Talledega) He's the reason for restrictor plates! A Talledega 202.398mph pole and the 1987 record setting lap of 212.809mph and up during the race. 1988 Champ!! Although he really should have been in 85',87',and 92'.From 84 - 02' voted most popular driver 16 times.ESPN driver of decade (80's). Hall of Fame 2007! One of the BEST! AWESOME BILL from DAWSONVILLE!!!
@negtype13 he was the reason for the Restrictor plate only because DW whined that he was beating his ass and needed to slow down. DW wanted him to slow down. WHAT A MORON!! Great driver and one of the most humble drivers.
@negtype13 Darrell Waltrip is still shocked to this day that he has the 1985 Championship. He basically said that after Darlington that Bills team didn't show up but still just the season they had in 85 was so amazing that sometimes it's seen as just as big as his 88 Championship season.
I love Bill! My father is 60 years old, and has loved Bill from the beginning of his career! I remember being 3 years old sitting on my fathers lap, watching Bill race!!! I love you Bill Elliott! He's a fair racer, and your not sneaky (like some of the other racers!) :o)
Bill is my hero, there will never be another driver as awesome as he is.
