I have fallen in love with Roy thousands of times -- every time I hear his voice -- and if I ever meet him in Heaven, I hope to tell him so. (Thanks to whoever posted this! ♥ ♥ ♥)
I remember slow dancing with my girl to Roy back in the 60s. He never got the credit he deserved back then. The man was truly, so far ahead of his time in music it was unbelievable. One of the greatest of all time. He will live on forever.
Roy Orbison rocked. His songs are the way i remember my life thru the 50's-60's. Today, (2011) a baby boomer at 65, any song of Roy Orbison's will take me back to a time and a place. That is as good as it needs to get.
THE MOST POWERFULL AND BEST MALE VOICE EVER BEEN HERE ON THIS PLANET. NOBODY CAN SING THIS SONG OR OTHER OF HIS SONGS LIKE MISTER ROY ORBISON!!! EVERY TIME WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS SONG OR OTHER OF HIS SONGS I GET CHICKEN POCKS. THANK YOU ROY FOR YOUR WONDERFULL MUSIC, REST IN PEACE AND OF COURSE I MISS YOU VERY MUCHG!!!
@OkieDokie306 You are correct on that point, BUT, the real reason Roy wore the sunglasses was this: On tour in 1960 or 61, in England, he was in such a hurry getting off the plane that he left his prescription glasses ON the plane. The only glasses that he still had with him were his prescription SUNGLASSES. . . He wore them for the first gig that night, and an iconic image was born.
Epic epic epic ending to a song, just brilliant. The man is long gone but his voice rings through my head every day without fail. Heavy metal runs through my veins but Roy can still make me shed a tear every once in a while. He is THE singer of music, in a league of his own.
Has pain ever sounded more beautiful ??? The man was an opera star, the greatest opera star, cos he songs were about real life, everyone could understand and feel them. If he had been pretty like Elvis maybe it wouldn't have worked as good. He's image was truly iconic, for me the "Real man in Black" .... a proto Goth, The original Dark broken hearted angel.... My Hero Roy Orbison !!!
I was here at the height of Roy's career and I can tell you that he is the greatest all time vocalist. His untimely death was a blow to many fans like myself. I was poor and only had a radio to listen to and loved his music. He brought me through many bad times as a youth.
I have been reviewing many of Roy's "classics" recently with the "Essential" album. I have decided this is his most powerful song. I can't believe it wasn't a HUGE hit for him!?
Awesome!
