It can be a skin thing, my oscar went threw the same thing and she was in a tank along with a pleco, so it can happen my oscar dead from it, I feel your pain man, you want to help it but there's not much you can do.
This is not a skin condition. This is evidence of being attacked by a tank mate at night. If this is a serious skin condition, your other fish will also be inhibiting the same problem or symptoms. I have an ID who also showed similar raw skin which I though was white spot disease only to find out that it was my hi-fin chinese catfish that appears to be harmless at day but nibbles the skin of the ID shark at night.
WOW and i thought that when my id shark ate 5 of my community fish i thought that wuz crazy this is insane sry i wish u best of luck losin a fish hurts

man once i saw like this situation in shop it was albino iridescent shark and hes have was like this and his tail taken away

thats either a Spotted or a Florida. Gator Gar can reach 10 feet long...ID Sharks can reach 4 feet and 30 lbs...

The shark got attacked by other fish and was moved to save it from being killed.
Was way more gross yesterday with skin and tissue hanging off.This is after some medicine.
