  • Excellent fun ---well thought out

Searched for this after seeing it at local A1ST presentation

  • I remember seeing the original film of this you have don a rely good job of this.

  • Superb variation on a theme, beautifully put together and what an amazing locomotive. What might happen if they build a Gresley P2 and run it like this?

  • @heightsgreen Im not sure it would wok. A p2 uses more water so theyd have to stop more often.

  • @jamiegoddard4

But then all they have to do is use a double tender

  • @jamiegoddard4

Even for this they could have saved time by borrowing bitterns extra tender. A second tender would reduce water stops

  • @falcons1988 I dunno, Bittern's second tender is the rong colour for tornado, plus the rental fee woudl hve been huge to rent the tender for a 2 day round trip. I personally am glad that tornado managed the run, wether or not it lost an inacurate and skewed race to a car is irrlevant to me .

  • Thanks jamie for this inspirasional piece. The modern film and original soundtrack meld perfectly - the music is so redolent of the documentries during that time - early 50s ?

  • @globaleye8 Yes, the original film was 1954, and the music is by Clifton Parker (who also wrote the music for the 1959 Kenneth More 39 Steps, which also features an A4 and an A1). The bits with those engines is on YouTube as "39 Steps (1959) 3/11".

  • well done indeed!

  • good video man, enjoyed its lyricism.

  • First saw this at the A1 Trusts Covenators Annual Convention where it was given a round of applause.

Great Video, so very well done!

    Well done Jamie

  • Genius!

  • that was very good 5* + fav

  • Awsome video mate, absolutely brilliant. 5* and favourite

  • Thats an amazing piece of work mate, was hoping someone would do something like this!

    5* and faved, just brilliant!

  • I only wish BBC would publish the footage from the cutting room floor, that way i could do KC-EW in 4 minuites.

  • fantastic!

  • Thats is Fantastic! Well Done!

  • Can you tell me who was responsible for the voiceover? I know that voice so well, but I can't think of the guy's name, which annoys the hell out of me!

  • The narrators are Howard Marion-Crawford & Alan Wheatley. Though i am not sure who is who. Either way, they mke quite a pair.

  • AHA! I know Alan Wheatley as the Sheriff of Nottingham in ITV's 1950s Robin Hood series, of which I have several DVDs - if you don't have any, get some! They're superb. Oh, and thanks for subscribing to my videos - I presume you're interested in more than one kind of heavy metal? =P

Thanks also for putting this up - it gives a perhaps more arty slant on this fantastic locomotive's so far pretty incredible career.

  • Absolutly, heavy metal al the way, wether mechanical or musical (though i could anwser a test on only the mechanical). Cheers for the comment, for some reason the number of views has gone from 400 to 1400 in a week, amazing. But it was a pleasure to make, i'm glad you like it. It took long enough to make.

  • Brilliant!!

  • This was warmly applauded at the recent A1 Convention in Chesterfield. Brilliant!! Well done

  • Thanks, when you saw Chesterfield, is that Barrow Hill roundhouse?

  • Yes, thats where we went after our hotel convention venue. Nearly 500 present, perhaps explains your number of views shooting skywards

  • Outstanding effort. Well done!

  • Lovely!
