Is there another one of these happening that anyone knows of? I'd really like to participate in one. Very cool idea. I am a flute major, music teacher now. Please let me know anyone....
I have been working on a recording, and I think (if you decide to do it again) you should do October and propose to EW to conduct it. :D That would be awesome. Oh yeah, and either way, that is a great piece.
Hey I was wondering if there was going to be a video posted up like in teh virtual choir where there's a conductor it would make the Maestoso section in the Chaconne much easier to play
I may just be making myself out to be an idiot here (since I haven't heard the piece before) but I assume that there's timpani. I will be interested to see how that works. I love the idea. Absolutely love it. Makes me sad I don't have a webcam or anything of the sort.
i might be interested in doing this. i've had the pleasure of playing this piece twice already in high school. i'll play euphonium or bass trombone, which ever is needed more. i am fluent on both.
@virtualconcertband i just have a question though: on euphonium there is a solo during the intermezzo that is labeled as a bar. solo but it's written as a cue. should i play it or not?
@virtualconcertband and another question, sorry. there are some notes that i think i cannot reach on my instrument (below my register). should i play them an octave higher?
I'm a high school junior and I play trumpet. I think I might give it a shot. Are you looking for specifically a cornet to play the cornet part, because my school is playing the second suite, and we just gave the cornet part to trumpet players.
I plan on playing Tuba, and possibly trombone if I have time for it, but I have a question about split parts, should I make a recording of each with the 'upper' splits and another with the 'lower' splits.
@rubix12321 Hi there! if you have time to make two videos then that is awesome. :) However, if you only have time for one you can choose which ever one you prefer. :)
@rubix12321 you should to trombone 3 if you are to do trombone because some guy covered trombone 2 and i also did one on trombone 1... i think it would be good to cover all parts.
@trulybubbly hehe, I'm trying to get my recording working first...if I listen to the track on my mp3 player, it plays faster than the actual recording... :P I need to figure this out before I can make any recording. I was planning on doing Tuba, and then trombone, I was planning on doing the Bass trombone part next.
I play oboe as my main instrument in symphonic band, but I also play clarinet fluently, played flute for the school musical: Annie, as reed 1. Additionally, I play xylophone in drumline, alto as lead in jazz band, and tenor occasionally. But I've played First Suite for a concert and sight read Second Suite on oboe. :)
I'll get to work on the bari sax parts, and if i have time the alto parts. My only problem is my bari sax at home is a piece of crap so I'll have to find a way to record it at school or something.
I play Euphonium and Trumpet, i can play both the cornet parts and the euphonium part :) I really would love to be apart of this for the Principle trumpet (cornet ) part =D
I can play flute and guitar; I'm a junior in high school, and I certainly believe I can play at or above the level of my age. I would be very much interested in this. And I have played all of First Suite and Second Suite for my high school's wind ensemble.
This is going to be the most awesome thing in the world. I was watching Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir pieces and I was thinking about the possibility of a virtual band and the next day, I see this! I just see one problem though, intonation. I saw that we were supposed to be in tune with the video, but I think a lot of people would have trouble with that. I might make the suggestion of people using tuners with similar calibrations. Either way, I'm very excited about this!
1. are you going to post a video of yourself conducting it any time soon?
2. do we play the splits? (tuba) if so do you want us to edit it in ourselves or submit two sets of videos?
this is a cool project i have done this several times already for a couple of music compositions already. i am exited about finally being one of the performers!
@OrpheusXTheXGOD Hi there! sorry for getting back to you so late, I wasn't sure about posting a conducting track but I probably will (you all will get a message about it when t goes up)
and for the Tuba splits I'd prefer you to play the lower part of the splits. :) or if you have the time to do two videos, that is awesome. :)
