  • I am blessed to have a great ear.

  • robert jonson on electric

  • Respond to this video...

  • sweet looking guitar... what model is it? Awesome riff btw!

  • @Seophiee It's probably an Epiphone Sheraton II.

  • @GuitarBlues3 I'm 100% sure it's a sheraton II or maybe an original but I highly doubt that. I recognize it because of the rose on the headstock

  • Hahah dude sick

  • Great playing!!!

Please watch my video "Damn Jam".

    Greetz, Fred Westra

  • that was cool...

  • Tabs?

  • my ears are soar, thanks...NOT!!!!!!

  • catfish blues much? :)

  • If I am not mistaking this is very similar to the song called "Crying Blue Rain" by indeed Jimi Hendrix.

  • cool! gimmi more!

    Zett

  • Laten zien hoe simpel sommige dingen zijn.

    Thanks!

  • i think this is hendrix - catfish blues :)

  • Man, you can't do that enough for me!

  • guys is there a tab for this riff somewhere. i absolutely love it but i cant pick it up off of watching his hands and listening.

  • Long Train Running... sittin round the station, waitin for the train, take me, from this lonely town... sweet and low down

  • wasntt his in some of hendrix's stuff?

  • pff nimp sa c du Rory Gallagher ^^

  • i just like the teddy bear :)

  • This is actually Hendrix... Catfish Blues

  • reminds me to john lee hooker style but never so good like him ^^

  • Great stugg man to short though I loved every note I know you drink but does the bear drink to as I would like to buy you both a drink

  • white BB King. ^^

  • ya its a sheraton, as played by john lee hooker, excellent playin

  • He should have given the credit to jimi hendrix he is playing catfish blues.

  • If anything, he should actually give credit to Muddy Waters. He was the first to use this riff when he made a cover of catfish bles.

  • This is also played by Hendrix at the beginning of Voodoo Chile.....some people will be saying I am wrong, those of you know know Jimi's music will know I speak the truth....

The version goes for 15 minutes and it can be found on Scorsese Presents the Blues :)

  • That is the voodoo chile blues version lick. Chile or child I do not know! Ryan-Adam

  • you have great technique

  • haha he got a beard

  • It's Midnight lightening

  • anyone know of good electric guitar song/artists?

Youtube is full of "lessons" ?

I'm talking the evil blues, biker bar bad ass blues. None of this "Let's dance" happy blues.

What he plays here is kind of close.

    Thanks for suggestions.

  • hahah "I'm talking the evil blues, biker bar bad ass blues" i love it man. haha that should be a registered genre. haha

  • @dlite922 hendrix =P

  • @dlite922

The Black Keys are probably the best 'dirty blues'

Have a look at all Fat Possum records stuff. Junior Kimbrough, a big influence on the Black Keys, might float your boat too. His style is very similar to this video.

  • @chesto18 Or Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker and all that old Chicago blues stuff. Even George Thorogood.

  • @dlite922 oi lemme know too pleaaasee

  • @dlite922

    Check Out b.b King !!!!

  • altough jimi and does alot of cool things with this style, you guys gotta travel back in time a bit, get some Hopkins or some John lee

  • Hooker

  • Why the beer ??? :D

  • very S.R.V. and Hendrix.

  • i wish I had the blues D:

  • Some nice action on the bending and hammering. Nice tone too.

  • i dig the music and the teddy bear on the head of the guitar

  • That's definitely Hendrix's Catfish Blues. It was on his BBC album. Awesome song.

  • It sound like Voodoo Chile (not Slight Return...)

But nevertheless we agree it is Jimi Hendrix's riff! hehe

  • yep, your 100% right, i have all the jimi's tracks and that is deffinatly it

  • you are a very good musician , I like very much your blues style , please watch my blues video and comment and rate it if you want, thank you

  • yea thats umm voodoo chile blues real nice playin and tedyy bear

  • Sounds ALOT like a Joe Bonamassa song i know.

  • watch and learn 19hugo91. It not hard. Most blues e a b.

  • this is awsome, where can I learn that?

  • sounds liek Jimis voodoo child

  • yea thats what i thouht when it started it also sounded a bit like red house by hendrix.

  • Play the Blues, the other is CRAP !!!

  • u got a teddy bear on ur headstock!!! :P

  • u suck harvey

  • were can i learn to play something like that?thanks

  • just curious but is the beginning from Hendrix's voodoo chile:the non-slight-return-version?

  • yeah well it sounds like it...

i think he was influenced by him... I know i was :D

  • ya lol aren't we all :)

  • damn right dude

  • no it was influenced by a muddy waters song called Rollin' Stone which influenced Hendrix's Catfish Blues which is probably what your thinking of

  • love that sound man!

  • i need to learn to play sounds like this. big ups to you sir

  • nice bear on the headstock XD

  • i love this! very... Hendrix :]

  • thats cuz it is. Catfish Blues basically

  • smooth

  • hoho nice one i'm nearly able to play it :P

  • Oh Yeah!

  • thats a sheraton

  • thats a sheraton

  • Cool riff, I just smile when people hear that opening riff and instantly think Jimi Hendrix.

That opening lick is straight Muddy Waters from Rollin Stone(Catfish Blues). Jimi did what every great guitarist before him and since has done... be took it and made it his own.

  • yea I heard the riff and thought Hendrix also.

  • ....catfish blues, nice

  • is that a sheraton coz if it is youre cool lol nice teddy bear lol

  • hhahah nice guitar i have the same one

  • how much does it cost your guitar?

  • cool m8:D

  • cant ever find a better tone for some junkyard blues then what this guys got

  • wow really nice tone

  • Catfish Blues, Hendrix... sweet!

  • Catfish blues is song Rolling stone from Muddy Waters

  • is there a tab for this?

  • a tab?? no man...blues is impro...

  • essentially, but I just meant if he recorded the motions afterwords or something.

  • Mmm slow blues. quite cool, tho repetative..

  • am i the only hearing quite a bit of hendrix in the first half of this? voodoo child, verse riff.

  • Nope, me too

  • Nice. Concentrating on the feeling and not the speed.

  • really good liked it alot im a big fan of very bluesy rock myself

  • awesome!!

  • This guys a lot more tolerable when he keeps his mouth shut.

  • Tasty...

  • hey... muddy waters riff...thats one of the best version nof it i've heard, biiiiiiiiiig muddy fan

  • sounds nice

  • what are those notes you are playing down at the fifth fret? sounds like E, A, D (bent toward E)

  • I'm an idiot, thats the 7th fret.

  • Learn your pentatonics. 5th fret top string is A and in that key the pentitonic scale goes (from memory) A,C,D,E,G back to A. Blue note is D#. It can be applied to any key in the same step pattern. :D

7th fret top string (or bottom) is B in standard tuning. Apply the same pattern and your playing pentatonic in B. Keep in mind that the scale sounds shit without feeling. And you wont sound good till you can put feeling behind it. Lots of minor second intervals and such.

  • don't try to analyze this, the dude's just playing the blues.

  • cool licks!!
