Um that P-51 is not going max power. If it was it would be topping out at 440mph. The cruising speed was 362mph. Now I dont know what the stall speed is for the F-15 or the F-22 but I know for sure that the A-10 would have no problems keeping up with the P-51 because the flights speeds for both planes are very similar.

they are all great planes..... the P-51 Mustang is considered the pinnacle of the multipurpose fighter planes of WWII ....  the F-15 Eagle is considered one of the greatest multipurpose fighter jets of today, with an amazing kill ratio of over 100 kills and no losses ... the A-10 Warthog is considered the greatest close-air (ground) support airplane for the last 30+ years ... and the F-22 Raptor is considered the replacement for the F-15 for the future, as the next air-superiority fighter.

Not only so, it is the only aircraft of those four to have seen combat in a full-scale war. It has OVER 9000 enemy losses to its credit (9081, according to one source), while the F-15 has only 104 "kills", over half of which were made by Israeli Air Force pilots. Google "P-51 combat record" for more info.

You're not wrong. It was the fastest fighter for the allies in the war. It's just such an extreme comparison going from P-51 to an F-15 or F-22. We've come a hell of a long way since 1944! I just always make that comment when I see these heritage fly-by's. Pretty cool.
