I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. Like I said, most anti-smoking ads in the US, where this was made, are made by the tobacco companies, and they have a much more vested interest in keeping someone smoking.
Good for you that some commercial affected the way you think, though.
it's a stealth smoking commercial. Think about it, how long do they spend propping up the old image based things about smoking (it makes you look cool, tough, glamourous, sohpisticated, etc.)? How much time do they take to say "you could end up on apparati" (and note that they say *could*)?
Most anti-smoking campaigns, at least in the US, are funded by tobacco companies, so they often turn out to be stealth smoking ads.
@koomori Why do you have to turn something positive into something negative? I hate when people only look at the negative. I think this commercial was really impactful. I was watching the previews on a dvd and I paused it after watching this clip to find it and share it with all my friends on facebook. If it has that kind of impact on a 16y/o girl to stop watching a movie and go share it then I'm pretty sure it's not a "stealth" ad.
@koomori I know this is an old comment, but it is worth replying anyway.
Are you an idiot? The beginning sequences of this commercial serve as a deep contrast to the image actively smoking will most likely give you in the long run, NOT to persuade you to smoke. They show the viewer different "images" of these people to sympathize with the whole audience, i.e. some ads persuade people that smoking makes you look sexy, while others tough.
You are obviously just looking for an excuse to smoke.
This is my absolute favorite commercial! I love it, more than anything. I am very much against smoking, and this is exactly what the younger generation of kids in our world need to see!
@aDiosHomie Let me guess.... someone you knew died because "the evil tobacco company" got them hooked on their "death sticks."
Let me tell you something. Both of my grandfathers died of smoking related complications, and I still smoke. I've smoked for five years. You know when the last time I had a cigarette is? Probably about a month ago. And I'm fucking fine. A strong enough person can smoke because they like it, and stay "free" of the "evil influence."
@aDiosHomie I'd love for a self righteous internet moron to tell me how I'm supposedly "ignorant" though, so go ahead. And while you're at it, why don't you tell me how many people you've lost to smoking, so we both know how superior I am to your genetic line.
ME: DAD YOU WANNA END UP LIKE THAT
DAD: SOME PEOPLE END UP LIKE THAT WITHOUT SMOKING UGHH PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT
