oh. i am gonna make my friend so frickin jealous with this one. he kicks my rear at guitar hero but i will always whoop him in the real world of guitar. I also cant wait to throw pinched harmonics in his face. thanks for this. the whole Master That Riff! series is the one best thing to happen to online guitar lessons. you are my hero second only to slash.
I fyou want to sound like the the record you'll need a wah and a nice hi-mid setting on the amp so the notes are clear. Of course the melody will still be the melody no matter if you use a wah or different amp setting :). HTH
MARK! all ur lessons are flawless, i wich you coould solos like river dragon or born or final product from nevermore...more metal riffs coming soon? :)
nice lesson! Do you think that learning songs by ear is esseantial to be a good guitarist? I guess you transcribe all the songs you teach ? Can you give me some easy solo's to begin transcribing with? that would be a big help!
i think learning by ear is essential to get better...a professional guitarist or any decent guitarist SHOULD be able to hear a song than to rely on a tab...
I don't think it's essential but like any language if you can read it/write it, hear it and speak it then you have far more options to communicate. Depending on the song I'll either fix existing tabs or transcribe from scratch. Youtube is a great resource now for seeing artists playing their songs which really helps with transcribing. For getting starting why not try working out simple melodies, hell even themes from TV shows or adverts :).
Hey man ur lessons are a huge help, i was wondering if you could upload a lesson on rocket queen. Thanks again

A million thanks.
Just a couple of questions.
How should I set up my amp to get the desired sound? How much reverb etc.
Do I need to use a Wah-Wah pedal and if so can I use a VOX V847?

As I've mentioned before, doing solos would take up a lot time that I don't have to spare :).
