you said subsonic then wrote "note the supersonic crack" there is a huge difference in subsonic and supersonic. by the sound im assuming they are supersonic.
@dini16016 Could you point out where you believe the error to be? I reviewed the video and wasn't able to find the inconsistency you mention (e.g. where I write "subsonic", followed immediately by "note the supersonic crack").
Nice video showing the difference of the noise level with the available .22's. I've shot with suppressors and like Maxim found that super sonic .22's when fired past a set of poles sound like a machine gun as they pass. Love the M-1 and like you I reload for mine too. I would much rather take the M-1 or even the M-14 in to combat than that M-16. I'm not a big fan of the AR types and I'm in the military. I also love AZ and it is great for shooting!
Nice, I wish it was easier to shoot here, we have to have sub 12ft lbs air rifles and still cant take em anywhere without the police on your case unless you have written permission on private land that is.
@heypete1 All great points indeed! But is it worth it for a class 3 suppressor / silencer?! Unless those are cheap for you! I love 22lrs ... fun and cheap like you said. But quiet to me ... but my ears are going out on me from work soo I quit caring! lol
@flywithabel I think so. :) The suppressor itself was about $550, which included the $200 ATF tax stamp and a $50 "tip" for my dealer (who dealt with my annoying questions for about a month or so leading up to the sale). About as expensive as a new pistol, but considerably more fun.
Obviously you have never shot a suppressed 22. Tons of fun and you can hardly help but smile. I have a 77/22 where you can hear the subsonic rounds hiss down range, the bullet impacting is the dominate sound. This gun breaks clay pigeons on the 200 yard berm most times. I can get 3 rounds off with my 10/22 before the first report comes back at 100 yards so you hear 3 shots followed by 3 impacts...then repeat :) Did I mention I can shoot in the garage with out bothering the wife.
@TGLymantaiste Idk what you mean by 'much'. But I I do have a couple of guns (AR15 .223 and .22lr and a 12 gauge). All I was saying is that you (or at least I) couldn't hear a 22lr from over 20 yrds away anyways and that would be very quite. So whats the point of a silencer on it? It is very cool indeed! I do like how it sounds on this video! Plus my ears are going out anyways cuz I've been working as a pilot for years ... so you will have a different experience if you have better ears!
because in my state its illegal to hunt with semi auto rifles shotguns u dont need to pratice with because u just put the bead on the target and shoot and my bolt actions all u do is take a box of shells and sight in ur gun not to mention my dad was a qualified marksman (sniper) so the good shooting runs in the family
You suck a life you emo/goth dork and clearly have no concept of how a market economy works. Good for your dad being a marksman maybe he could teach you some life skills so you don't suck at being a human.
Your making no sense and being very immature at the same time. Why would the price of shells and ammo go up because of people who shoot for recreation? It's not like the companies are making any more money off of you killing an animal. Fact of the matter is, the companies are probably making more money off of recreational shooters then hunters. I'm sure if they raised the price because of that then most of them wouldn't bother buying the shells and ammo as much which means less profit.
What's wrong with not hunting and recreational shooting? There's a lot more recreational shooters than there are hunters, and we don't have any problem with you folks.
.22LR and 12ga birdshot are commonly available and cheap, and I handload my own .30-06. I seriously doubt my shooting activities have any major impact on the price of ammo.
I haven't gone target shooting in 3 months. How the hell is the shortage my fault? Besides how can you be any good with your hunting rifle if you don't take some target practice.
Define "snipers" -- are you referring to the person or a "sniper rifle"?
Also, no special permit is needed. Rather, you need merely pay the tax and fill out the paperwork. The "permit" that people think is necessary is simply a tax receipt -- evidence that one has paid the appropriate tax.
i ment sniper rifles but either way its illegal unless your in the US Army Sniper School and it doesnt matter if you paid taxes and signed paper work, silencers on a sniper is illegal, other guns its different but snipers ... its illegal
Care to back that up with proof? Perhaps start with defining what a "sniper rifle" is? Maybe a link to some sort of official site/form that mentions that rule? I've never heard of it.
AAC makes silencers for .338 Lapua Magnum and .50 BMG rifles, which are commonly used in sniper roles. These are available for civilian sale and ownership.
Indeed, I know several people with rifles commonly used by snipers, such as the Barrett M81A1 and Armalite AR-50, and they have silencers on these rifles.
yeah maybe cuz u live in mississippi or something like i said before there illegal in 45/50 states in america, you can have silencers on anything that isnt considered a sniper rifle
Define a "sniper rifle" and explain how it differs from non-"sniper" rifles. Show me evidence that silencers on such rifles are illegal in 45 out of 50 states, including Mississippi -- a link to the appropriate section of state law would do nicely.
In short, you have made a rather definite claim, and I challenge you to prove it.
Starting with the subsonic round and the suppresor,, This thing sound less than a bb gun!! Nice supressing with supersonic rounds, very hard to ping point that shot!
The womans in the vid both are really pretty specialy the one with withe top. They can handle the guns very good buddy, great job.
And the guns, men the M1 is awesome you have your guns in good shape like is supposed to be!
Yeah thats whats keeping the terrorists out, a bunch of rednecks with guns. Not the fact that the US spends more money on its military budget than all military budgets put together. Also the 2nd admenment doesnt give you the right to own a firearm to keep the japanese out you fucking inbred retard, but to protect yourself from your government in case it decides to go astray and say, suspend habeas corpus. Its the governments job to protect your dipshit, the guns are here to keep them in line.
My cans are designed to be shot wet....but then .45s are hard to suppress. I just add a tablespoon of some liquid poured in and shaken around.....sling out the excess.
I love the coast but wish I could live in AZ sometimes for the "distances".
Seeing some of the questions it amazes me how little a lot of folk know about gun laws.....thanks again for your patience answering them
I moved to san Francisco area after 10 years living in AZ, then 7 years later I moved right back. I like the Saguaro cactus and seeing quails and rabbits and hogs in my backyard.'
Infact just last month I saw a pack of about 40 antelopes standing within 30 yards of the road, that was the first time I saw so many outside TV and the zoo.
Nice video...I'd marry the cutie firing the M1 in a hot second. Have you tried the can wet....a spoon full of ultrasound gel does wonders. I admire your patience replying to everyone about the weapons, NFA, etc....
I haven't tried shooting it wet, as one can't disassemble the suppressor (it's factory sealed), so I don't want to bother with wet media. In fact, the manufacturer recommends that you just shoot it dry. It's certainly quiet enough when fired dry.
Some of it is the camera, yes, but the gun is still very quiet.
For example, I was at the local outdoor range last weekend. The silver staplegun they have for securing targets to the frames was louder than the suppressed 10/22.
No, the government has no record of the sale (though they are legally able to access the shop's record of sale in a criminal investigation). Arizona, like most states, doesn't do registration or anything like that.
I doubt that Obama actually wants to take guns from people (people would get stabby, I suspect), but rather he and many in Congress have said they want to implement various restrictions on guns. Useless restrictions, to be sure. Write to your legislators.
Just an ordinary Class III firearms dealer. My dealer moved out of state for personal reasons, so he's not available in Arizona. Just ask your local gun shops if they know any good Class III dealers in the area.
The M4A1 is a select-fire (read "machine gun"), and I presently lack one (they're about $12,000!). I did have an M4 (not sure of the exact model) when I was in the army, and rather liked it.
The 20" AR-15 is nice, as it gets the bullets up to an impressive velocity, which is handy for longer-ranged shooting. I recently bought a 16" AR-15 in the M4 style (an "M4gery"), and it's a bit more compact and lighter. Velocity is a bit lower.
Both are fine rifles, and I recommend both equally.
Clearly it's not. I demonstrated it firing live .22LR ammo with and without the silencer. If you look closely, you can see it ejecting brass both times.
I mostly used it for target practice at 50 yards. The targets are usually quite small.
That said, I've since removed the scope and simply use a red dot sight. The barrel doesn't have iron sights, and even if it did, you wouldn't be able to see over the silencer with the front sight.
Looks like the normal unattractive American women to me !
You guys need to come to Ukraine,Moldova or Romania so you can see real beautiful women who look dress and act like women .
My Svetlana is a real beautiful women and handles a full auto like some special forces because she learned to handle Soviet weapons during the Soviet Union times in grade school to High school because it was requiered for children in the Soviet Union times to learn to use military weapons .
Out of curiosity, are you using a polymer buffer in the 10/22 or the stock metal one? Reason I ask, that sounds much louder to me (action noise) than it should with a silencer and subsonics.
I'm using a polymer buffer now, but I don't recall what I was using at the time. Probably the stock one.
Recall that I was "filming" this with my Canon digital still camera on "video" mode. I can't imagine the microphone is very good in it. It's hardly a scientific analysis. :)
Hey, Canadians have a comparable number of guns per capita. :)
And yes, it's a hobby. It's fun, safe, and enjoyable. Sure beats sitting around in the laboratory all day...shooting on weekends gets me out in the sun. :-P
The foxy lady in white knows what she's doing... you should have her give shooting/stance lessons to the lady in the maroon sweater. Good stuff. Thanks!

Sooo... why put a silencer on a 10/22? U can barely hear a 22lr from 10 ft away...
flywithabel 1 year ago
1. .22s, although quieter than many other rounds, are still loud enough to cause hearing damage if you shoot without hearing protection.
2. Great for teaching new shooters.
3. Arizona is hot. It's nice to not have to wear earmuffs when shooting.
4. Keeps noise down, so one doesn't irritate other shooters/people near the range.
5. Augments earmuffs/earplugs, reducing the noise transmitted to the ear, further reducing the potential for hearing damage.
6. It's cheap and fun. :)

Shyssirixus 3 years ago
Who's "they"?
The gun shop certainly has a record of sale, which they are legally required to keep for 20 years.
Beyond that, there's no record. Why would/should there be? It's just an ordinary gun.

"They" being the government.
I'm paranoid like that - Obama said he wants to take our guns away.

Just ask your local gun shops if they know any good Class III dealers in the area.

hey quick question do you prefer the ar-15 or m4a1 and why?
boboterrifico 3 years ago
The M4A1 is a select-fire (read "machine gun"), and I presently lack one (they're about $12,000!). I did have an M4 (not sure of the exact model) when I was in the army, and rather liked it.
The 20" AR-15 is nice, as it gets the bullets up to an impressive velocity, which is handy for longer-ranged shooting. I recently bought a 16" AR-15 in the M4 style (an "M4gery"), and it's a bit more compact and lighter. Velocity is a bit lower.
Both are fine rifles, and I recommend both equally.

Women + M1 = the shit.

thats a nice ar15...is that a m1 garand or a m14? not sure
domrulz85 3 years ago
Thanks.
It's an M1 -- the M14/M1A have a 20-round detachable box magazine, which the M1 lacks.

that a fucking soft air gun
emokid4ooo 3 years ago
Clearly it's not. I demonstrated it firing live .22LR ammo with and without the silencer. If you look closely, you can see it ejecting brass both times.
heypete1 3 years ago
awesome gun and what not but why such a big scope for a .22?
stealthchaser13 3 years ago
I mostly used it for target practice at 50 yards. The targets are usually quite small.
That said, I've since removed the scope and simply use a red dot sight. The barrel doesn't have iron sights, and even if it did, you wouldn't be able to see over the silencer with the front sight.

that ruger 10/22 was SOOO exciting! lol NOT!
dgreenpuffy 3 years ago
It's suppressed, isn't it?
Due to their small case volume and low powder capacity, .22s quiet down really easily.

Man, I have to let my wife watch this. Maybe she would like to go shooting! Thanks guys. (and girls)

Reason I ask, that sounds much louder to me (action noise) than it should with a silencer and subsonics.
elitearbor 3 years ago
I'm using a polymer buffer now, but I don't recall what I was using at the time. Probably the stock one.
Recall that I was "filming" this with my Canon digital still camera on "video" mode. I can't imagine the microphone is very good in it. It's hardly a scientific analysis. :)

Americans and their guns. I guess it's a hobby. Don't think I'll ever get it though.
cavemanboborj 3 years ago
Hey, Canadians have a comparable number of guns per capita. :)
And yes, it's a hobby. It's fun, safe, and enjoyable. Sure beats sitting around in the laboratory all day...shooting on weekends gets me out in the sun. :-P

the quite bullet they werent loud enough and powerful enough is thta part of the reason you had to cycle them through yourself?
DaddyRatkay 3 years ago
Correct. The CCI CB Long ammunition was not powerful enough to cycle the action, so one had to operate it manually.
heypete1 3 years ago
Cool vid , liked the sound track
the woman with the M1 ; ) , theres something about a woman that knows how to handle a gun. ( ping ) thats me not the M1 LOL
walnut1963 3 years ago
Is the CCI round used without silencer louder than a fingersnap? Is it very recognizable as a gunshot at night?
bobbozeppelin 3 years ago
It's quieter than clapping hands, but louder than a snap.
It's not really recognizable as a shot (day or not), but it's still quite distinguishable from other naturally-occurring sounds.

The foxy lady in white knows what she's doing... you should have her give shooting/stance lessons to the lady in the maroon sweater. Good stuff. Thanks!
1kperday 3 years ago
It was Sarah's (girl in the maroon sweater) second time shooting. I'm willing to cut a little slack on stance for the sake of fun. :)
Now, over a year later, she can outshoot me. :-P
