@DeathtoRaiden1 He spent his last moments directing his aircraft away from nearby homes. If he had just ejected instead of that he would be alive but a lot of other people would more than likely of died. By the time he had manoeuvred away from the houses he didn't have enough altitude to eject safely. He put the lives and homes of people he never knew before his own. Also apart from all that he was serving in the UK armed forces, that alone makes him a hero!
Maybe you should have some respect for the term hero and not throw it around so much. I'd also like to know where you got your story from. There is no such thing as "not enough altitude to eject", ejection seats can be activated at ground level and they will still deploy and land the pilot safely.

There was an unusually high amount of rainfall on Thursday 18th August in the Bournemouth area causing flooding to water meadows close to the rivers Avon & Stour, which are in close proximity to BIA. I noticed large numbers of birds in these areas, foraging on the following Friday and Saturday, possibly increasing the chances of a bird strike.

not that anyone really knows what really happened from the footage ive seen it looks very much like he g-locked pulling out of the dive and pulling hard round at the end of the manuver is said to give the pilot 6g's if your not ready for it its very easy to black out at that so either he wasnt ready for it (you would have thought with his training he would have been) or his g suit failed we may well never know what happened as the hawk doesnt have a black box R.I.P big man

@slinkynet They usually fix the seats or repair them with RAF Engineers. Or they just replace the Hawk until they fix the old one they have spares. But unfortuantly this might of been a dodgy hawk. The RAF have grounded the red arrows for now until the investigators found out the problem might not even be a problem with the aircraft at all could of been pilot error he could of got his foot stuck on the rudder pedal hopefully we will found out soon he died a hero.

It sounds like a cliché but this man didn't die for nothing, he died doing something he loved and also died a hero by giving his own safety no consideration when he felt the need to save others. I completely agree with you there...we choose lifestyles but we know the risks. What I was meaning was that he didn't die simply for doing some acrobatic manoeuvres though, and staying on the ground isn't really a sensible prevention technique.
If you lived in an empty steel box and never left or spoke to anyone and food was pushed under the door you'd never come to harm or suffer, but unless you have some kind of mental illness you should realise that enjoying your life comes with an inherent risk and never doing anything that could possibly result in something undesirable is not really an option.

If he had just ejected instead of that he would be alive but a lot of other people would more than likely of died. By the time he had manoeuvred away from the houses he didn't have enough altitude to eject safely. He put the lives and homes of people he never knew before his own. Also apart from all that he was serving in the UK armed forces, that alone makes him a hero!

Maybe you should have some respect for the term hero and not throw it around so much. I'd also like to know where you got your story from. There is no such thing as "not enough altitude to eject", ejection seats can be activated at ground level and they will still deploy and land the pilot safely.
I read the description and it makes no sense. He couldn't eject because he got knocked out but he made a mayday call?

RIP Jon Egging. A hero for avoiding the built up area around Bournemouth. I am local to the area and have a point for some consideration.
There was an unusually high amount of rainfall on Thursday 18th August in the Bournemouth area causing flooding to water meadows close to the rivers Avon & Stour, which are in close proximity to BIA. I noticed large numbers of birds in these areas, foraging on the following Friday and Saturday, possibly increasing the chances of a bird strike.

not that anyone really knows what really happened from the footage ive seen it looks very much like he g-locked pulling out of the dive and pulling hard round at the end of the manuver is said to give the pilot 6g's if your not ready for it its very easy to black out at that so either he wasnt ready for it (you would have thought with his training he would have been) or his g suit failed we may well never know what happened as the hawk doesnt have a black box R.I.P big man

@slinkynet They usually fix the seats or repair them with RAF Engineers. Or they just replace the Hawk until they fix the old one they have spares. But unfortuantly this might of been a dodgy hawk. The RAF have grounded the red arrows for now until the investigators found out the problem might not even be a problem with the aircraft at all could of been pilot error he could of got his foot stuck on the rudder pedal hopefully we will found out soon he died a hero.

It sounds like a cliché but this man didn't die for nothing, he died doing something he loved and also died a hero by giving his own safety no consideration when he felt the need to save others. As part of the world's best aerobatic display team this guy sacrificed his life whilst attempting to steer his jet away from numerous buildings to prevent an even bigger tragedy when his aircraft developed some sort of mechanical failure.
The Red Arrows make me for one proud to be british not only are they the worlds best pilot's. They have to be to even get a chance of joining the red's but they're also a really friendly group of people.

It was his 1st year out of 4 and he was in Red 4. The outside, right tip, in the Diamond 9 Formation. So he wasnt a slacker.
