Wow. The expression that "history repeats itself" just hit me in a deeper, more profound way and has given me a new appreciation for Biblical literalism. If a god (G) establishes a pattern (P) based upon a set of behaviors (B) with a result (R), permittivity takes on a whole new meaning (I am thinking here of how the ancient tradition of killing goats, for example, was generalized to Jesus as scapegoat). The bible attempts to explain (formalize?) G, P, and B sufficiently to optimize R.
I like your idea! It is easy to point out the flaws of thinking to a people that didn't hardly know what to do with their own poo. Setting us into their perspective will make a clear understanding of why they thought this way. I hope you keep on cause you have me hooked.
@nathrakh0tdlb Hey, thank you! I certainly hope not to disappoint. I have one more very solid Allegory cracked, but then the Author goes all Astrological on me. I really didn't want a PhD is Astrology, but I guess I'll take it. ;-D
I really like your approach here.
Have you by any chance read Myth and Ritual in Christianity by Alan Watts?
