FDR was a great "wartime" president but as an "economic" president he failed, because the socialistic programs he put in place (under the New Deal) worsened the Great Depresion. It was World War 2 that pulled us back from the brink.

That being said, he is still the man who brought down Fascism and Imperialism, and has my respect.

No you are wrong. Why do you think we were so successful during the War? Because of all the programs he had instated with the New deal. Had those programs not already existed (public works etc) we would have had a worse start.

Not to mention what they did to the land out in Kansas to end the Dustbowl was nothing short of the greatest turnaround, probablly of all time.
