i have one and he wont stay on ur hand i just got him but hes doing great and lets me hold him and stuff but he loves shoulders for some reason if im holding her on my finger shell run up my arm its kinda funny lol any tips? and i also need a name any tips im thinking milow or ziggy
@177gaga how old? you got from a previous owner? you dont really want a bird to get used to being on your shoulder, they have more control over you up there. hands and arms only. use "step up" every time you pick her up. if your bird is trained to step up, shoulder is ok...if not she will bite you and hide behind your head. never back down when a bird is biting you...kind of have to take it. if you pull back, it trains em that they just bite you to get what they want.

@healonator its not to late to name your sun. i adopted mine..she was 1.5 years old with no name..prev owner called her "bird". i named her and now she tries to say it all the time. birds can be loud. if yours is really loud..dont let her out at that moment. birds learn on cues. she loud you let her out, she will always be loud. i let mine quiet down for a bit and then let her out so there is no connection between the two. they are smart like that. try to never reward for behavior you dont want
@177gaga oops...replied to myself...read comments left on vid. training birds is fairly simple, you just have to be consisntant and like i said, only reward for favored behavior. buy a clicker(for dog training). my bird gives me 5. hold my finger tip to her breast and say "gimmy 5" at first she was trying to step up. she would grab my finger tip and id click and reward. pretty soon (5-10 minutes) she had it.."gimmy 5" and she touches my finger tip, click reward. the click is the association
@177gaga the association that she has done something right...not the treat. you can keep the clicker on you and when you see her do something you like...click...the bird will soon learn that click means reward. and she will soon learn what behaviors get clicks...if you see her spreading wings.....click...then reward...soon with luck...she might spread wings just to get the click and reward...then you can try adding "eagle" click reward, when you see her spread her wings..stuff like that.
@healonator thanks for everything that helps out alot i have a clicker already before i got my bird my brother has a quaker parrot that is evil and hates me so i bought a clicker to try to teach him to be nicer but it dident work i tried toch training (used by Chet Wolmach) but it dident work just because he hates me so much lol

@177gaga mine likes black oily sun flower seeds...same size as normal ones...just all black. if you feed her a mix of stuff, just look at what she eats most of..thats her favorite. then go buy pellet food for her. that will be her base diet (dont go cheap, it needs to be good food) and add fresh fruit and veggies. you can now use what she got on a daily bases as her treat. its hard to reward her with stuff thats already in cage. you can usually buy specific seed(her treat) in bulk.

beautiful orange colour, is it almost luminescent face to face? im not sure what pet bird to get, but i really want one. im considering this breed, cockatiel or budgie. these are so colourful!

Our baby sun jupiter is very loud when he wants to be, but overall he's quiet when we are within view. When we leave the room he has a fit. He's very cuddly though, a real joy to have.
Be careful with the fish tank, I had a lovebird when I was little and it jumped in mine and drowned :(
I love conures, I used to work in a pet store and we had one that was hand raised. It would sit on my name tag and sleep while i covered it with my hand. So cute!
