@bonz0416 Don't know if you've already made your purchase, but personally, I think the Line 6 amp models and stuff are far superior to the Boss ones, but the Boss pedals generally have the slight edge on the effects side of things! Hope this helps
hello! i am about to buy a guitar processor, and im thinking to get this or a line 6 floor pod plus coz they are in the same price.. but i have no idea which to choose.. to all those guitar pro's, can u please suggest me? thankss!!
@pobinr then you are not using your imagination my friend all of this is an improvisation with such powerful melodic ideas that you apparently not seeing but then again we all have tastes and listen to it regularly and let my imagination flow..solid compositions may give you more melodic ideas..but if an improvisation can reach THIS level.(which surpass MANY written music out there)...of melodic content..then its simply OUTSTANDING...i suggest you listen to feeling fine..you may change your mind
@arcainjust As a Bach fanatic I can tell you the music here is not on a solid compositional basis. If you want to hear melodic improvisations then listen to Bach Preludes which are as if Bach improvised them, then wrote them down. They have an unsurpassed degree of continuity with every moment to leading logically from the moment before to the moment after.
Anyway no one compares to Bach. He's head & shoulders over even the great composers so not fair really to compare him to A Hutchinson.
@pobinr a person who compares classical with jazz/fusion fails to understand music is a form of expression i hope you get out of your Bach hut to see melody's nature and expand your melodic mind *Bach is a great artist who's musical influence will continue that is a fact*..BUT..there was no point in talking to you to begin with..because you do not wish to learn..you just wish to prove your self righteousness..im sorry for trying to open your closed mind and this conversation is over..peace
@arcainjust "I do not wish to learn" - I was out of my Bach hut 32 years ago when I 1st started listening to Allan Holdsworth & Brand X.
Or in fact 37 years ago listening to Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep, Yes, Genesis & King Crimson. All those bands composed not just technoflash jam over simple chord changes. U don't know anything about me or music. As regards the conversation being over. It never really started.I hope one day when you mature you will begin to 'LEARN' of the enormity of Bach's music.
@pobinr Bach, more astonishingly, actually improvised most of the fugues. Fugue was a time filler during idle periods in mass. He was not the only one. Most organists then and even now are required to be able to do this. However its totally incomparable to rock fusion. If you were listening closely to your Brand X, they were using exactly the same modal devices and turn-arounds as this guy. Different courses for different courses :=D
@arcainjust Feeling fine is a Carlton type bluesy very soulful track. Great feeling. Couldn't be played better, but that isn't melody. A melody is something that lodges in the mind & screams out to be hummed or whistled.
@toomanygittars Whats the connection between my question and your answer ? I didnt ask why he uses floyd rose I asked why he throw away black cap that was on top of whammy bar .

@bertobgood2 Not only that, but there's a lick in there at :20 that sounds like a direct pickup from GG. I do really like Alex, though. I just found out about him today.

Alex is a great guitarist & excellent musician. If u really listen to his compos & improvs u'll hear complex ideas, like the chord changes & wide vocabulary of phrasing that u may not understand the first time.
All music is real music, it's just a matter preference, the more u know & the better u understand it, the more u appreciate it. And that's why ur guitar hero's guitar hero is Allan Holdsworth.
Ted Greene once mentioned at a clinic,
"If u don't understand it, that doesn't that it's bad".

Say what you want but you cannot deny these simple facts. <3
I always get impressed right from the start when I see this guy but then it all fades away into boredom because...well, because it goes nowhere, I mean, after the initial jaw dropping demonstration of technique all we are left with is an endless amount of meaningless phrases that seem to be there only to show off technique rather than to make enjoyable music. I know you kids are gonna thumb me down but can anyone remember how this piece of "music" sounds only 5 seconds after it's finished?
No Guthrie Govan either, too much legato and I'd expect higher standards of cleanliness from someone coming from this brand. As well,Ritchie Kotzen called and would like a few of his licks back.
I know what you mean. He doesn't seem to have any direction, it's just lick after lick with no particular emphasis on any part except the one melodic part in the beginning.
Many kids who barely learned to wipe their asses clean without their mom's help and just picked up a guitar get impressed with such display of technique and they get all defensive when someone criticizes it but music isn't just technique or the display of it. Anyone can get in their room and practice for hours and be able to play really fast but it takes real music talent to actually use that technique to make real music, something I'm afraid this guy here hasn't in him...
come on that isn't exactly fair. i reckon this isn't his best JAM by far, doesn't seem to suit him, he's more jazz, fusion ambient, he's done some great jams, hopefully he'll bring out an album and show us all what he can do, musicially as well as technically. i totally understand your point of view though.
Keef is one of the most (technically) average guitarists I've ever heard, but also one of the richest lol
i disagree with you 100%. you are judging his playing based on 2 minutes of a video. Wait until he releases an album and then you can really "State your opinion".
sure, this is a short video to be used as a base for an opinion but that is not the only video I've seen of him, I've seen most of them (there are dozens on bluesjamtracks...) and I even said on my first comment "I always get impressed everytime I see..."
And many of his videos here are from his compositions that will(or already does) feature in his first album.
And to me it is all very impressive for about ten seconds, after that I get bored with his playing because it says very little...
There is no accounting for taste. I personally think that Alex, Guthrie, Gottardo, etc. are the next generation of guitarists that will take us into a new era, i find it really hard to critique their art when it is simply so much better than the trash that is on T.V. and popular these days. I wish them infinite success as id like to hear from them for a looooong time.
The 3 thumbs down you got for this statement only proves your statement further. I agree with you. This guy seems like he has the potential, but has yet to actually learn how to use his technique tastefully. +1 for you, good sir.
I just said what I think, that is by no means some sort of fact.
To me music should say something, have a message. And that is the real hard part. How do you transmit a message without words?
I went to the G.I.T. in L.A, back in the 90s when it was still a great school and the best teachers there, even the fusion guys, always said it was harder to write a good 3-chords beautiful song then to play a hundred arpeggios in one second... Makes sense to me
Maybe you should be listening to ac/dc so you don't get so put off by this "boring" display of world class talent. Fusion isn't supposed to be "catchy".
It's a display of "jaw dropping" technique and superhuman memory on the part of the player.
It's "musician's music", which is why you don't see it on MTV.
what a moronic thing to say "don't state your opinion as a fact...", specially coming from a teenager who uses a screen name "pettrucciisgod" - isn't that also stating your opinion as a fact? Change you screen name to "in-my-opinion-pettruci-is-god" and maybe next time I express my opinion in an open forum I'll start with "in my opinion", or perhaps you can just learn that others may have an opinion that differs from your and they are free to express it without having to excuse themselves to you
@tommytalks77 How do you not feel the emotion in this? That's a serious question. This man has got SO much of it. Summer of Love. That is my answer to your statement.
but ur ear changes after a while and if your serious musician, your ear will no doubt change. for me and a lot of other serious musicians, u start listening to different more "exotic" styles of music..guthrie is my favorite, but alex is gud gtar plyer 2
honestly tho its something u have to learn for urself i coudnl't explain it to u.. but i hear alexs phrasing perfectly.. i can hear where hes comin from, i understand it.

@tommytalks77 How do you not feel the emotion in this? That's a serious question. This man has got SO much of it. Summer of Love. That is my answer to your statement.

i get what u mean.. i use to be like that too..
but ur ear changes after a while and if your serious musician, your ear will no doubt change. for me and a lot of other serious musicians, u start listening to different more "exotic" styles of music..guthrie is my favorite, but alex is gud gtar plyer 2
honestly tho its something u have to learn for urself i coudnl't explain it to u.. but i hear alexs phrasing perfectly.. i can hear where hes comin from, i understand it.
ur ear changes over time
