Italy is a normally a great team but for some reason were not playing with much passion this time around, unless you count the last half against Slovakia. But when they are on, no one can beat them.

Slovakia just got lucky. A one-time fluke win doesn't make you a champion.

Italy was very lucky and nowhere near the best team in 2006...They shouldn't have won. They will likely not advance past first round in 2010.

@TSM8088 LOL yah okay bud, The Italians, only conceded 2 goals, one was an own goal, and the other was on a PK. They scored 14 throughout the tournament, 2nd only to Germany. Buffon was the best goalie of the tournament....LUCK...haha okay bud, dont let the door hit you on the way out..

@TSM8088 if you saw the game you should have seen that the italian acctualy scored another goal but the refeere didn't count it/... Italy could have won every game but the referees were unfair to them every single game

@TSM8088 you mean the slovaks that were playing dirty....the goalie who gave a slap to the Italian player? was probably thinking about the Slovakian prostitutes at the time...Italy played very well second half. Truth be told, Italia was terrible this year - didn't have a great team and the coach left many great ones at home...nevertheless, in my mind Italy are a great team and they deliver championships (unlike the Portuguese club)
