Thanks for posting this Lynyrd Skynyrd classic. The sheet music for Billy Powell's wonderful "Tuesday's Gone" piano solo can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription. His solos from "Call Me the Breeze", "I Know a Little" and "Sweet Home Alabama" are there also.
I lost my best friend on a Tuesday this last year, and this song is so bittersweet. It make me cry every time I hear it, but it's such an amazing song by a truly AMAZING band. RIP Ronnie & the crew, and thank you from all the fans you touched with this song.
Why doesn't everyone lay off 'apathyphd420' in these comments? Come on....do Lynyrd Skynyrd not deserve to still be discovered by people for the first time? To say his question 'doesn't warrant an answer' or 'how long have YOU been a fan asking THAT?' is just cruel and insensitive. We can't keep Skynyrd to ourselves, they deserve to still be 'discovered' by new fans year in, year out...give people who ask questions about your fav. artists the answers they seek - everyone was a 'new' fan once.
thanks for this , ive never heard this version. I still love the Fox Live the best, that harmonica really adds a sweet touch. but this is awesome (as usual). they were the greatest band in my opinion. no other band gets or got over the years more play when im in charge of the tunes out of all my collections.
The original Lynyrd Skynyrd was awesome, its sad how much tragedy went through this band. Allen Collins was one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters
Possibly the greatest song by one of the all time great bands. Didn't get the commercial airplay of some of their other songs but the fans know and love it. Skynyrd still lives on through the music and the remaining members carry it on.
Cool picture of Ronnie assisting Allen at 2:03 in the video.....maybe after his Labor Day 1976 weekend car wreck.....Gary and Allen both crashed their cars that weekend.....too much smoke....oak tree you're in my way.
that picture at 2:03. thats not allen collins, thats gary rossington. "you can tell by the cross. and well... the sunglasses and allens hair is like, a lions mane. i couldnt begin to describe, the beauty of allens mane in the sunlight, cool breeze summer day down by the swamp.
Allen Collins and Ronnie Van Zant the 2 wrote this fantastic tune Tuesday Gone and a lot more songs. The guys were so genius and other groups copied their music, but LS is the only one who ´can deliver southern rock at it`s best, for ever missed you beautiful guys RIP.....Music live on forever.......
@apathyphd420 al died in 1990, billy just died recently, Artimus is doing fine, leon died in 2001, ed king was with the new band for a while until he had heart issues so he took break....now he's okay but the band wouldn't let him rejoin. All band members will be greatly missed. R.I.P
@apathyphd420 Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, died in plane crash, Allen Collins died Jan. 23 1990 after a bout of pneumonia, Leon died July 27th 2001, Billy Powell as you see died of a heart attack, Ed King and Artimus Pyle still with us. and Jo Jo Billingsley back up singer died June 24th 2010.
@apathyphd420 lets see, they lived. they died. they used up their phyiscal body, they brought us magic. pure sexy groovy music. enjoy it cause thats why they died.
they died so we can enjoy their music, not saying they didnt live kickass lives otherwise.
but their souls are still around, rossington an pyle are waiting to join up with em.
as for me
i cant never be as great as them boys, so i aint even not gonna try :)
@apathyphd420 34 years ago today, their plane crashed into a swamp, near gillsburg mississippi, southern country land, to die, for a southern country boy thats for sure.
october 20th today... 34 years gone by. great guys. everyone has to end this life sometime. to start another one.... i feel the wind blow outside my door. so simple, man oh man
I had the great privledge to grow up on the west side of Jacksonville FL in the late 60s. They played at many of the dances at Lake Shore Jr. Hi for 50 cents a head. Even back in the day when they were the 1% back around 68. Thanks for the GREAT photos. Hadn't seen any of them before. Brings back many great memories! God bless! RIP guys and gal.
Someone asked me along tyme ago, which is my favorite SKYNYRD song?I replied all of them but if I had to pick one,it's this one! I even have a tattoo.Great pictures. Not a day goes by I don't think of all the great rebels who have bleesed our lives.I hope they all know we have not forgotten them.
