It was sad that he broke up with her, but he did it because he loved her. He wanted a better life for her, but in the end she still wanted to be with him. In BTVS series finale he asks her if she saw him in her future.....she says Im not looking that far ahead but then admits sometimes she does see him in her future. They have a forever love, nothing can top that! She loved the hell out of Angel even when he turned 2 Angelus.......it took her a long as time for her 2 get her strengh 2 kill him

Spike and Buffy were NEVER in a relationship! It was a physical thing, how could u be in a relationship with someone ur embrassed with? There is a difference between love & sex people. Connection Bufyy and Spike had a connection, no. Angel & Buffy had a true connection. SMG & DB said that Angel & Buffy were a true love, so did JM. Angel and Buffy......no one could ever tear them apart!

Personally I prefer Buffy and Angel apart. There is more character development happening that way. First loves, while passionate and unforgettable, can't survive if the relationship doesn't grow. In this case, their relationship would never have changed or matured without him turning evil. Angel knew that and thought that Buffy deserved more than that. I kind of have to agree with him. Anyways, I think that's why I prefer her with Spike, because their relationship was constantly developing.

Seeing this episode was the first time I realized that Angel wasn't as perfect for Buffy as I had previously thought. A part of me, when rewatching these first 3 seasons, still wants them together, but I've come to believe more in Spike. Angel loved Buffy enough to let her go, but Spike loved Buffy enough to change himself so he wouldn't have to let go of her.
