I think this is AWESOME kind of graphics.....yeah, there is no AO or DOF effects, but just have a look of this dynamic shadows (especially at the end of video when player attacks the powercore) - they are brilliant! I like the final version of ut3 very much but I would like to play this beta too......damn I try to get these dynamic shadows working in UnrealED 4.0......

- Well if you look at gamespot (as an example) and their top 10 games for the ps3 currently it includes things like sonic the hedgehog (I believe a 360 could play that.. not sure if its out on the 360 though) and games that arent out for it include GTA IV.. which will be out for the 360 too.

that doesn't look anywhere near as good as gears of war. all u seem to do in that is stand and shoot people as best u can. at least in gears of war emphasis is on hiding and u can use tactics. only thing missing from gears of war is a capture the flag mode and an all against all deathmatch mode

yeah that's a fair comment which i totally agree with. it was just that people in general were comparing gears to unreal tournament which i didnt think would be a fair comparison, because they aren't the same type of game. don't get me wrong i love my first person shooters, i was a massive fan of quake 3 arena on the dreamcast...people shoud be comparing unreal tournament to something like F.E.A.R or call of duty 3, not a third person shooter!!! surely?!

True, but if (UT2007) was compared to Halo 2, it would fall terribly short. As would most games, in my opinnion. However, UT 2007 does look fun, and as one of the first BIG FPSs out there, I respect it, and Epic Games.

I think Halo 2 would definitely have to be the best received game...ever. No other game has been taken to the competitive level of halo 2, (like a million dollar contract for several pros). I've never played farcry, and it didn't look too interesting. So instead I spent my time playing halo.

But as with UT2004, 2007 is incredibly user-friendly, which means easy mod making, thus making things more enjoyable, and letting people bring their dreams into a very realistic world.

this game looks alot better than gears of war. Gears of war has a tighter look because there is alot less content. Here you have tons of stuff and much more on screen at once, so from a technical and artistic standpoint it is superior

hm it would depend on the style of gameplay you like actually. graphics do play a bigger role in new games like these, well, in early stages at least. gameplay can be fixed with patches, graphic engines cannot.

you're underestimating ut07 and the ps3. it's not just for ps3 either. gears of war isn't all that on the 360 either. beautiful graphics, but it does not have a large database of textures. it's repetitive, with unsmooth textures. epic has done a good job showing off gears of war though.

For me, it's one of the greatest games ever made. B4, when I was still in the Philippines, a lot of Pinoy's doesn't like to play this b'cuz u have to pick weapons in designated areas not like CounterStrike where u just have to buy em. So the strategy is to hide urself & wait & point ur gun @ the weapon of w/c ur opponent desires so much. Boom if he picks that 'best' weapon.

There are linux installers for some versions of UT, available from their website - And since Macs now run Linux/(windows), they can support UT as well.

The unreal engine was designed primarily for multiplayer.

This game is coming out on PS3, XBox 360, and the PC. There will be multiplayer of course. But there won't be an Assault mode or an Onslaught mode as far as I know. They've replaced those modes with a new mode, which I can't remember the name for right now. And there wil be different classed vehicles such as Necris vehicles. That's all I know at this point.

I agree that HL and most of HL2's Mods, and HL itself is not that great. But the HL Mod, TFC, although, not well known, seems could conatain far most master's of aiming movement. There are things to respect about an FPS, beyond game graphics Hateyou. Hope you'll understand that one day.
