I drive an hour to my doctors appointments, and I don't mind at all since they address all my needs without any worries. another thing i have heard about medicare is there are situations where a patient could be treated at home with an iv and some supervision very inexpensively, but they would have to pay for it themselves because medicare wont cover it. instead medicare covers them staying in the hospital for days costing the system thousands of dollars instead of hundreds. its free for the patient cuz its covered by medicare but the money comes from somewhere. that is the stuff that needs to be fixed.
what needs to happen is to lower the cost of healthcare. by having the government come in and pay for it using a trillion dollars from The Donald and company, doesnt help anything. I dont know much about healthcare but i think what we need is for health care to be more like automobile insurance, where people must shop around, look for whats best for you. and make companies compete for your business.

Healthcare is expensive because technology has allowed more to be done to preserve human life, not less. People demand more, and the cost increases. It would be possible to create a company that only handled certain emergencies, if people chose.

Last, healthcare is not a basic human right. As a Canadian, I really don't understand why universal health care of a government run health care is making people turn into monsters. Every other developed nation has some universal health coverage of some sort. In-fact it the U.S. has the highest cost of malpractice insurance than any nation in the study. Wouldn't health care premiums cost decrease drastically for small and a little for large businesses? The only thing individuals need to worry about is dentistry, optomo - and psych.

I do however argue about family size. All societies reduce their birthrate as they become more prosperous. The fact is the old are far lees poor than they were, but living standards have risen.

I'm all for health care reform, which means GETTING THE GOVERNMENT OUT of the health care business ENTIRELY. There shouldn't be even ONE government employee involved with health care. When you let the free market function as it is supposed to -- i.e., unencumbered by government -- it will provide the best possible health care to everybody. GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM; the free market is the solution.

At least people like myself and your grandfather can go to the doctor and not have to worry about how much insurance is going to rape or cover us under the policy guidelines. I drive an hour to my doctors appointments, and I don't mind at all since they address all my needs without any worries. Now Illegals getting coverage is a totally separate issue altogether, and in my opinion should be addressed as such. This bill is for Americans, not anyone that has come into this country illegally.

And yes, the VA will take care of my medical needs for the rest of my life. So why should I care, right? Well I have seen countless family members and friends that have suffered due to how things are currently with health insurance and coverages. As I stated before, I haven't read the bill yet and will this weekend, but instead of trying to start a riot and get innocent people hurt, try to find a better solution to the problem. another thing i have heard about medicare is there are situations where a patient could be treated at home with an iv and some supervision very inexpensively, but they would have to pay for it themselves because medicare wont cover it. instead medicare covers them staying in the hospital for days costing the system thousands of dollars instead of hundreds. its free for the patient cuz its covered by medicare but the money comes from somewhere. that is the stuff that needs to be fixed.

Let me tell you, the way it is now it's just not sustainable. I just can't see paying for it as is. I just have a big problem with the fact that the US healthcare system is on it's own a strain on businesses. There are companies like GM who before the downfall paid more for health care per vehicle than on steel. No wonder, Americans are buying imports. Figure it this way Japan as does Germany pays less and deliver a better product. Is that just a coincidence, or do we hate US made cars?

Japan makes good things, cheaper. If it weren't for the tariffs, we'd be paying about $1,300 less to import higher-quality Japanese cars. You have the State to thank for that tariff. A State paid off by auto executives.
We hate U.S. made cars because their quality is horrible, and their prices are artificially inflated by tariffs, a form of welfare.

Last, healthcare is not a basic human right. The cost of medications would be infinitely less if it weren't for the State involvement. Look at the prices of the medications of the same companies in Mexico, Canada, and Europe. Despite socialist healthcare, the prices are not low because of State subsidies.

Public education turned a mostly illiterate country into one of the most educated. Social security and Medicare nearly eliminated elderly poverty. Medicare is far more efficient than private insurance. We're the only democracy without government insurance, and we spend at least twice what anyone else spends and get the worst results. So could the government run it better? How can it not be obvious the answer is "yes"?

So is that why there was no elderly poverty before social security and medicare? Except there was, and now it's a fraction of what it was. Meanwhile, old age insurance has spread the costs and risks around so all of us are free to use our own money for our own savings, or our children, etc., rather than losing our life savings when grandma gets sick. So these program haven't just created security for the elderly, and younger people too. We have MORE money than we would have had, not less.

Actually, we had a severe recession in the 1890's. That was the robber baron era. Talk about stagnating living standards. And of course living standards are stagnating now, even before the worst recession since the Great Depression. This has been a lousy decade economically. No argument from me on that. I do however argue about family size. All societies reduce their birthrate as they become more prosperous. The fact is the old are far lees poor than they were, but living standards have risen.
