@westtexasduster not a string, steel wire, and the pull is partly why the handle is clipped onto a pylon in the centre of the circle. Still awesome though
@westtexasduster Other RC cannot be subject to force from this axis. They need to bank to turn therefore the force is (at max bank) perpendicular to the spar. In control lines the spar just takes the tension and the fuselage is subject to a perpendicular force.
And dynamic soaring gliders resist a continuous 50 G's and can handle up to a 100G's (they do have G meters inside).
the engine is probly some russian engine most likey Fora,Profi. or it could be a super tiger most likey not tho they dont usualy sound like that or go that fast.
I was at the BMFA Nats this year (just got back today) I was watching the speed there. FIA, Pulse Jet and vintage, I gotta say, it was amazing. you can't capture this kinda thing on video. seriously. anybody who hasn't seen this, needs to go to the BMFA nats next august and watch it for real, FIA and pulse jets are out of this world!!! vintage is a bit boring compared but it's still pretty fast... like... 110mph...
This has got to be the coolest thing I've seen this month, easily.
Assuming a radius of 60ft, and 50.279RPM, that equates to 51.78 G units.
51G's....show me an RC plane that can handle half of that and stay in one piece.
For reference, the guy is controlling a 200mph plane with nothing more than string...and it's pulling outward at roughly 58lbs.

@axebrands 10cc is a .61, so 2.5cc is a .15-sized engine.

Good reason too, you'll understand why when you get hit by a control line failure.
I was watching these guys today at the field. Seems pointless to me.
