  • 1940? I thought this was written in like the 18th century?

  • i can see him as the Phantom :)

  • Linda Ronstadt and Rex Smith are perfect combination. Excellent performance.

  • This is amazing. It makes me want to cry... And he's really hot!

I've been watching this movie since before I can remember, and it's one of my favorites. I love this song the best tho. I don't know why.

  • This is my favorite song from this movie. He is so freaking sexy.

  • I find this particularly moving as I am currently involved in a similar situation. My girlfriend's parents refuse to let her have a boyfriend until July (four months away). This bothers the hell out of me.

  • @vonnycav I love how four months and like... x(5*4)=20 is similar.. I'm not making fun. I just think it's funny how times have changed so much...

  • @spdrchck53 I actually found out today that she lied about her reason for breaking up with me. I found this out upon catching her with another boy. Now the song "Away Away My Heart's On Fire" puts me in mind of my situation

  • In a fanfic I'm writing, the characters are performing The Pirates of Penzance for the university play, and I'm going to emphasize these songs as being the most popular part of the performance. It's going to be awesome!

  • I'm in love with this movie

  • Am I wrong for thinking Freddy Mercury would've really nailed Fredric's part in this song?

I know this isn't funny or fast like so many of the other songs, but this is the one that really made an impression on me when I saw this years ago.

  • It would have been interesting.

  • He would nail it.

  • Greeeeeaaaaaaat JOBBBBBBBBBBBBBB SISSSSSTERRRRR Ur amazing. I'm working on (ugh) New Moon. U were great in this. Fav song in the play. (even though I hear it 24/7 in the shower! LOL) KK Keep up the great work!

  • Why do you keep saying "sister" ??? Even if the actress playing Mable IS your sister, then you aren't doing yourself any favours by looking for any excuse to broadcast the fact.

  • This is so beautiful

  • D'aww! ^_^

  • this version is just amazing.

    i actually started crying.

im doing this show in 18 days

and the lady playing mabel, has the most amazing voice. you dont even know.

better then this. i promise you.

    i love this song <3

  • Why can't I find any G&S with the ORIGINAL ORCHESTRATIONS????(at least w/great singers)

  • Subscribe to me. I'll put the videos up when they've recorded the show. You can unsubscribe after if you want. Our Hail Poetry sends shivers down spines nightly.

  • Only if it's a real Orchestra playing the ORIGINAL orchestrations!

  • We're using the original score, and on a small community budget we have a flutist, a drummer and a pianist. We do the rest of the magic on our own.

  • A Great part of that magic is in the pit - just like a John Williams score. Too bad most singers don;t GET IT.

  • Another great part of the magic in the pit is the BUDGET behind it. I love orchestra as much as the next guy, but our production is being done in a SMALL community theater with a TINY budget and a great cast.

  • G&S is NOT as delightful without the full orchestration. To wit, the silly Linda Ronstadt vesrion of Pirates. Sullivan conceived his music as a total whole, not piecemeal. AND he did NOT use the XYLOPHONE!

  • Dude, Linda Ronstadt does Mabel perfectly.

  • Dude:

You have low standards. And my point was not Ronstadt's performance, per se, it was the poorly conceived re-orchestrations. Almost as dumb as the Broderick "Music Man." I will stand behind my opinions as steadfastly The Foreman of Constables.

  • sure does

  • listen to Welsh National Opera ( under Sir Charles Mackerras) wtih Rebecca Evans and John Mark Ainsley as Mabel and Frederic - a recording from 1993 - this is really great!!!

  • I can't find this on YouTube...help??

  • well it's a CD recording

  • Ah! I have this on video. Yes video (its only appropriate) I used to watch it like every day I love it

  • this is higher than the original verison. i was in an amateur production of it at my high school and i played mabel. i think it might be a third above the original.

  • It's not even an option.

    I NEED this movie.

This has to be one of the best plays I have ever done in school.

I did not want it to end at all.

I would do it all over again and again.

    This musical is BOMB!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE REX.

    He's absolutely perfect.

  • You know what I just now realized? Rex looks awesome in those shirts.

  • The pants caught my attention...

  • to that tiwanese person you cant really find it in stores here either. if you want it all you can really do is buy it online. its sad :(

and to the person who puts these on here, you rock! but is there any way you can put on 'what ought we to do' and 'how beutifully blue the sky' nobody has those onesand they are my favorites! thanks!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • i luv the "ah" at 2:18!!

  • I am a Taiwanese.

I love this movie so much!!

However,I don't have a chance to see it again, and I can't get this DVD in shops in Taiwan .

    Do you have this film?

I will be grateful if you post the part,「Is There Not One Maiden Breast 」

    Please....

  • You have to be on my friend list if you want to see "Is There Not One Maiden Breast"

  • Also, in case anyone missed it (I did when I first saw this), waiting until 1940 doesn't just /seem/ so long: It's a good sixty years in their future. Hence Frederic's lovely e.e in reaction to Mabel's comment.

  • The film is set in 1876 if u calculate, for something like that. So he has to wait for 64 years

  • This film skips an earlier scene where it's pointed out that the 'Stanley's dead and gone' in the mausoleum aren't Stanleys at all. The manse was purchased relatively recently. But, claims the Major-General, he doesn't know whose ancestors they ARE but he knows whose they ARE: his.

  • I love this song. I love the singers/actors. I wish I had Mabel's voice.

  • lol dont every1? she is SO good at singing... i wonder when she started singing..... ya...

  • Thank you!! *Hugs*

    ^_^,ll..

  • best song in the hole opereta :-)

  • So maybe you can tell your friends to upload that

    movie like that?

  • *Bows at your feet* I'm not worthy! Oh man, I've missed these songs. This is so hard to get on DVD.

    ^_^,ll..

  • I was so excited when I saw the movie. It was years and years ago when I last saw this.

  • So how are you going to post this to the world?

  • That is so beautiful.

Sound like the Opening of The Little Mermaid.

  • Good init. :)
