This is the most void trailer I have seen in my whole life. It literally contains nothing at all. A train crashes… something is in it that is very strong (could be an elephant on stereoids, for all we know)…

Sorry, with that little intriguing and interesting stuff, why again would I watch this at all? I hardly feel the need to even download it.

Especially since Abrams is known to fuck up the story at *key* points for the sake of visual bling. Where’s the horror?

Immer das Gleiche - die immer gleich ablaufende Sichtweise - eben aus der Sicht des menschlich kleinen Verstandes.

Warum nicht mal einen Film aus der Sicht des Alien drehen....

... z.B. das Alien aus Cloverfield, dessen Heimatplanet, wie es da lebt und auf die Idee kommt, Lichtjahre durchs All zu düsen nur um dann wieder einmal eine Stadt in den USA platt zu machen. Was denkt so ein Alien dabei. Man weiß es nicht - man steckt nicht drin... und die Menschen dann mal nur Schemenhaft dargestellt.

@GlowingHeart das "alien" aus cloverfield ist sicher nicht auf die idee gekommen zur erde zu reisen um eine stadt zu zerstören. die monster sind wohl eher zufällig hier gelandet. aber grundsätzlich hast du recht, wäre mal interessant wenn man sehen könnte warum die außerirdischen ihren planeten verlassen und die erde angreifen.

@GlowingHeart Ehm also so wie ich das in dem film verstanden habe, ist das kein alien, sondern ein projekt, ein selbsterschaffenes wesen von diesem Lehrer, oder? Deswegen frage ich mich, wie das vieh am schluss dazu kommt in ein raumschiff zu gehen, wo will es den hin? Wenn es auf der erde erschaffen wurde.

es wurde bei dem film vom labor, den die kinder angeschaut haben, doch sogar gesagt, dass er nur sein schiff wieder aufbauen wollte, um nach hause zu fliegen... und dass er von den menschen gefangen genommen wurde und nicht, dass die menschen ihn erschaffen hätten.

Das Monster in "Super 8" ist aber echt beschissen. Das Design ist langweilig (selbst das "Alien" Alien sah damals schon interessanter aus) und die Effekte kamen mir bei den Close Ups, wo das Monster dem Jungen direkt gegenübersteht fast schlechter vor als in Cloverfield. Die ersten 60min, wo man noch kein CGI-Drecksmonster sieht sind aber ziemlich gelungen und erwecken richtiges 1979er Feeling.

hmm.. there was a secret revealed after the end credits of the cloverfield movie. there were codes and a date september 10 1969! In the trailer of SUPER 8 a clip was shown with the year 1979. the super 8 film was invented around 1965. At the San Diego Comic-Con, J.J. Abrams said "There will be a Cloverfield 2 but it won't be a sequel. It will be something SURPRISING. Maybe the super 8 movie will tell the origins of the cloverfield monster.

cloverfiled hatte ein offenes ende. un genau das macht den film so gut. der regisseur hat dabei leider ein zu offenes ende gelassen, da die menschheit heutzutage wohl zu dumm ist für offene enden.

ihr mögt wies aussieht lieber filme vom fließband wie godzilla: monster kommt, monster macht krawall, stirbt - ende.

I think the teaser trailer was made to build buzz and bring about theories about whats inside the train when JJ and spielberg dont even know themselves. Then they smoke a joint and finish the movie after the teaser trailer has been released

I guess there won't be a ''better'' trailer.. Its Abrams style no to tell anything about the movie and let his fans go crazy and thats what makes his films so great... Like Cloverfield 2 years ago. He created a whole world around the movie, with fake internet sites, fake companies, fake myspace and twitter accounts of the charakters etc etc.. and you never knew what really was a clue..
