  • very cool...entertaining

  • Interesting...the guy with the Yamaha is fulfilling the 'support' role...nailing down the groove. Couldn't stop watching him the whole video.

  • lol didnt they mean purple haze? xD

  • I think the high slingers are people who spend a lot of their time practicing in a seated position, thus the muscles develope differently. They are used to being under the neck more.. Also they are players who like to play ALL of the neck.. It's really hard to get those high notes, slinging it low.. My 2 cents

  • white people cant clap

  • Who knew that Harry Potter could shred like that?

  • fuckin awesome

  • What was that last funky song?

  • They are playing the bass solo from NAAM when Stu hamm and Victor Wooten were at the Hartke booth at 3:26

  • @Childinfaith Its called chameleon by Herbie Hancock

  • @manatopain

Yeh thats right. I just like it how both you guys and my 2 favorite bassits played it :)

  • What's the bass that's not the Yamaha?

  • @UhMysteryGuest Looks like a Lakland. Can't really join a Lakland (expensive PROFESSIONAL bass) with the cheap Yamaha model seen here. Not an appropriate combo. There are some killer Yamahas though.

  • the harry potter kid needs to find a better backing bass player. just sayin...

  • INTRO Of video is so gay XD

  • no looks like mr. green has a G and L 5 string, but i could be wrong.

  • hahahha yes because AIDS has sound hahah. Great job

  • compared to lsudude, the red shirt guys tone is reallyflat. good job though guys, really

  • mr. green shirt has a lakland and eden gear.

    that's a WIN.

  • LSU hell yea thats wat im talkin bout were was this??

  • some one reply plz but what kinda bass is the guy on the right playing? thx

  • Looks like a Lakland 55-01

  • followed by crazy train ozzy osbourne with randy rhodes on guitar

    rip randy

  • purple haze by jimi hendrix in 68 i think

  • Hey Vigier Bass is French !!

Vigier est un fabriquant de guitares(luthiers) faites à la main..

    vie la France

  • wassat last one? i want to learn it XD

  • it's a some dueling banjo's song, not sure who played it, but you should be able to find it in google, just look for "dueling banjo's"

  • Scott, you are a beast, and I cannot wait for you to come out with a CD so I can buy 20 of them and pass them out to people.

  • it would be cooler if they would stop rushing all of the songs and didn't slap everything

  • PLEASE WORK ON YOUR PHRASING!

Sure, you can play a sloppy cover of Classical Thump, but if your phrasing sucks then nothing really matters.

The Lakland guy doing his little solo or whatever during Chameleon was brutal. I don't think there was one good thing about what he played, just some boring slap and pop stuff.

    Come on man.

  • yo should check him playing now, he is at the one o'clock lab band

  • SMOKE ON THE PURPLE LOL mean purple haze? idk lol

  • great video ! slap bass is awesome and people who thinks the contrary are so stupids :)

    so jalous ! ;)

  • dude i remember that it was at battle of the bands in friendswood like 3 years ago

  • Slap bass is boring? all your here is slap? WHAT the hell is your problem so victor wooten les claypool which made his living by slap. marcus milller, and the great stanley clark suck? No i think u just suck is what it is.

  • basses are awesome

  • I think they're supposed to be funny when they're tryin to "remember" purple haze.

  • CaCa

  • "shut up, they're putting on an act" haha gold

  • fuck man, all I see is slap these days, doesnt anyone play regular bass anymore?!?!

  • slap bass.. heard it all before, it's so boring to see solo slap bassing

  • agreed.

  • cause they're all in bands, being crappy and sitting in the background while their talent goes to waste. WEE OPEN E!

  • what's the song they play after crazy train?

  • Herbie Hancock's Chameleon

  • dude. its all about personal preference. its easier to play if you have it up high but it looks better if you have it at about waist level. there is no proper way to sling it as i said its all about preference

  • @squirrelxk2

There is actually a proper way to sling the bass. It should be the same height while sitting and standing. But I agree, wear it how its most comfortable to you.

  • of course he kicked the other guys ass though....

  • Rob Trujillo has terrible posture. I'm not saying he's bad. Just incorrect form.

  • HARRY POPOTE

  • Seriously. I watched this video expecting a British accent.

  • I can't stand the tone from the Lakland. I know they're good basses, but I can't stand that buzzy tone. Excellent playing, just a personal opinion.

  • where is this at?

  • HARRY POTTER WON!!!

  • adelante harry potter !!!!!!!!!

  • impressive. how long u been playing?

  • both are good bass player.

  • Potter used his wand.

  • the yamaha sounds like aids.

  • @crapht no it doesnt.. my cheap yahama sounds very smooth... Its HOW you play it : )

  • @crapht no hard feelings btw ; )

  • @MadeInChileBornInNor - hey. jesus i was such a dick. everything sounds great in this vid, lot of talent. no clue why i was such an asshole to you. i used to drunk-youtube a lot. major respect for the music and the bass skills bra. also, is that "crazy train" you guys rule. wtf i'm such an asshole hahahaha

  • What Bass is Potter playing.

  • It's a Lakland.

  • Gotta post another shout for bass legend John Entwistle !!!

  • Entwistle!!!

  • Pretty awesome, cuz ive seen AWESOME bassists and ive seen bad ones, but your above average, no les claypool though, sorry

  • lol that guy is playing a yamaha

  • yeah....rbx.170

  • it's funny how you kept trying to tell the audience what the song or artist was but ended up being just a little off. smoke on the purple, john hancock etc...

  • That's the joke.

  • my favorite part was definately chameleon <sp

dude you are a really talented bassist.

i still am trying to learn classical thump.

i cannot seem to get it down.

  • Not one of the songs from this video is compareable to Classical Thump man.

  • I know that. I was meantioning classical thump because in his other video Scott Mulvahill (wood bass) does one of the best covers of classical thump I've ever seen

  • The green one IS the classical thump man.

  • everyone sit down Entwistle is the best lol. No. Really.

  • that was not a duel

    it was a massacre!!!

  • you are awesome

  • Old Metallica too. Cliff Burton! And the dude from Primus tried out for Metallica in 87 and before that he played in the Death Metal band Possessed!

  • To all people who say bass can't be a lead instrument in a band, just listen to a little group called Primus. Les Claypool is so awesome. Primus is probably my most favorite group of all time.

  • les claypool himself is a really talented bassist. but im not really into primus that much for somereason its just too much for my brain to handle.

  • You right man! I'm an young talented bassist like you from Italy, but I have more to the style of Jaco than that of Vic.

  • @LSUDude258 the guys in the who labeled entwhistle as the lead,... n cliff burton was known for his LEAD approach

  • @LSUDude258 AMEN!!!

  • haha the bass never get any respect from guitarists (insecure :P) kudos guys.

  • "andym87"

but the bass is more difficult you sucker

  • you are someone guy dont worry for ignorant people that said "bass is not a solo instrument" fucking bastard

  • is it me...or was the guy on the bluish green bass not that good...other dude...wow.

  • gusmactavish obviously you are a fucktard, who has no cock. So go find a nice dick to suck...

  • You are obviously more a bassist than a musician. He's right. Bass doesn't compare to guitar, or most other instruments for that matter, as a solo instrument.

  • Wow, you are a closed minded cock sucker...

  • That's because bass was meant as a rhythm instrument, and was not intended to play the melody of a song (i.e., be up front). It can be done, but it's really hard to pull off (to actually make it sound GOOD as a melody instrument). I'm a bassist, and I like it when a bass player can show off how good he is by grooving, and not by soloing.

  • That bass is almost up to his neck.

    Bad-ass cover of Crazy Train.

  • Bass is crap as a solo instrument. It's a great backing instrument but when people play solo bass compositions rather than just grooving on a nice line...well it usually sucks.

  • you are an ignorant whore

  • yes you are ignorant

  • dude haha sweet shit bass rules fuck guitars

  • "metalhead4876"

each instrument has it's technics, but bass rules

  • Cool video. gusmactavish, and carloop... You guys are retarded lol.

  • rich kids

  • go suck cock

  • Man, screw guitarists. They've got 2 kick ass bassists.

  • What's wrong with you?? They're just as good or better as any guitarist.

  • this is hardly a duel .... just something to prove that you dont need a guitar in a band XD

  • nice

  • Wow, I love this.
