Three things on my not to do list.......Get dumped, get drunk and then listen to this song. Its sad enough listening to this even when your not heartbroken.
I used to be his cardriver when he visited Holland (Europe), back in the 80s. Fabulous singer and musician. We laughed a lot, as I showed him the Netherlands, the lowlands and the windmills. He did some gigs and big concerts all over the country. He gave me a nickname:-party animal- . Yeh, sure it was fun !!
The woman singing with Vince is Dawn Sears. Isn't she fantastic? She also sings with the Time Jumpers. You should hear her sing Sweet Memories. Beautiful!
Vince Gill is a wonderful talent. Patty Loveless sung with Vince on the original recording. I don't know who the woman is singing back-up on this performance but she is an amazing talent.
I saw him at station inn in Nashville with the time jumpers. It was the best show I have ever seen in person. I'm going to see him again in tulsa ok. At hard rock. He is a living legend one of the best ever.
I still think that this song represents the purest emotion of country music that you rarely EVER hear any more. It's one of the songs that is not only timeless, but is so pure in its tones that it litterally cuts right through your soul in a very heart fealt way. I can truly relate to how dukeowy must have felt at that show. Like TKO11 said, I can remember when this song came it, it litterally froze people with how good it was and is...Thanks Vince for this beautiful song.

The keyboard and bass player, along with Brent Mason on guitar, are usually part of Vince's band. They are the A studio band in Nashville with a variety of drummers. Check our Brent Mason videos to see these guys really playing. Bless you Vince.
One of the all-time best country "cry in your beer" songs ever! It's kind of like a hymn. I've been dumped so many times and this song always made me feel better about it. I wasn't the only one.
too good, absolutely fabulous!!!! Thanks for putting up this clip. Vince has got to be the world's greatest country act - I agree since Haggard. Great, would be excellent if you can put up "Trying to Get Over You" - it's one of my favourites.
My Dad died in 1999 due to Cancer. Whenever I get the Blues, and believe me I still get them alot, I listen to Vince Gill's Songs. Like "Go Rest high on that Mountain" My Dad found his Place in Arlington VA, on a tiny little Hill. His Mountain I guess. Thank you for Posting.
I was fortunate enough to attend one of his 'These Days' tour concerts and was awe-struck. There is so much production flash to the big name country artists today, and it was such a pleasure to sit and listen to just Vince and his extremely talented band. No video shows, no pyrotechnics, no slew of dancers, etc. Just pure talent. I was and will continue to be amazed by that live show. Your clips give others the opportunity to experience it as well. Thanks.
It's hard for me to believe this song is almost 20 years old now. I remember hearing it on the radio the first time, driving an '86 Wrangler and pulling over after the first chorus to listen. Gill is the greatest talent to hit Nashville since Haggard in the late 50s.
@TKO11 Ahh, You Need to check and correct your FACTS ! Haggard didn't hit the big time professionally till the early to mid 60's, NOT ther 50's ! google Merle Haggard's Music Bio and do the research. I started buying his first albums in the Mid 60's when he first became a Star !
Hag didn't hit the big time profesionally until the early 60s, but he performed with Lefty Frizzell in 1957 who took an interest in his career and helped him produce his first demo. He was already making a name for himself in Bakersfield when he went to prison for armed robbery. Sorry for incorrectly suggesting that he was in Nashville in the 50s - he wasn't in Nashville until afte rhis prison term
@TKO11 He was in his late teens or early 20's when he went to prison for armed robbery, but I recall that I started buying his 1st. two or three albums between '69 & 70.
I've listen to Vince sing this song at least one hundred times and every time it still gives me chills!

@TexGabby Correction: Patty sang on the record, but Dawn Sears is singing with Vince in this video.

@JoelM20C Thanks. I was referring to the original 1991 (?) video and not this one. I didn't make that clear. I love both Patty and Dawn!

Great song but just not the same without John Hughey on the steel. He was absolutely the very best steel player to ever live.

That is what you call a voice from heaven, the chic in the back ground is right there, with him, sick talent.
Simply put, a gift from God to us...cherish this music because it does not exist in todays world.
