Amy Johnson made a career in the 1930s as an early woman pioneer pilot, the British Amelia Erhart. She died in the Battle of Britain while bringing a new fighter plane to the RAF from the factory where they were built. Al does her proud.
This song is awesome. But honestly, I cannot rank it against the other tracks on Year of the Cat. YOTC was such a wonderful composition. Once I hear one song, I have to hear the rest.
It's tied with Year of the Cat as my favourite Stewart song. He wrote lyrics that could stand alone as poetry. I also prefer the studio version of this as I think the orchestra adds so much to the song and so does the slower tempo. It was sort of bittersweet. This version is a bit too upbeat for my taste, but still it's wonderful to see him still performing and the Nachmanoff guitar work is spectacular! Thank you!!!
@wkndsquire I Love this song, it was my favorite on the Year Of The Cat album, my cousin worked for Al Stewart in 76-77, met the band in Kansas City when my aunt had a dinner for my cousin and the band, they Loved the mexican food, my album vanished, so thank you for this song.

A favorite of mine too. Wish there was cool video montage to this music.

My favourite Al Stewart song. I have to say I prefer the album version though.

I absolutely love this song. I believe this song and Time Passages were the ones that got me interested in learning to play Al Stewart's music.
