It depends sometimes an accent catches on and sometime it doesnt.
I'm from Malta, (25 mins away (ferry) from Gozo where Connelly used to live), and our accent is quite harsh and throaty. When I went to Scotland I never caught on to the accent, but 2 days in Michigan and I ended up speaking like them with a significantly lighter accent and it was like I couldn't help it. I think it has to do with how homely a place feels to you and if you like the culture enough to undergo such a change.
I think it depends on how well the locals hear your accent. I'm Scottish and live in the US for a lot of the year and if I speak naturally they don't understand me so I have to compromise the accent a bit and end up sounding a little American after a while, although it switches straight off when I speak to another Scot or go back to Scotland.

Absolute rubbish 67.4% of oil and gas comes from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the Ukraine, the North Sea Oil fields are running low. Funny thing is the rest of the UK would benefit from Scotlands exit, as did you realise that 59% of Scottish income derives from the South East of England, do some research properly and I think you'll find Scotland is better off in the UK, yes I'm English but have Scottish parents, makes no difference to majority of english if scots are in uk or not to be honest.

It depends sometimes an accent catches on and sometime it doesnt.
I'm from Malta, (25 mins away (ferry) from Gozo where Connelly used to live), and our accent is quite harsh and throaty. When I went to Scotland I never caught on to the accent, but 2 days in Michigan and I ended up speaking like them with a significantly lighter accent and it was like I couldn't help it. I think it has to do with how homely a place feels to you and if you like the culture enough to undergo such a change.

I think it depends on how well the locals hear your accent. I'm Scottish and live in the US for a lot of the year and if I speak naturally they don't understand me so I have to compromise the accent a bit and end up sounding a little American after a while, although it switches straight off when I speak to another Scot or go back to Scotland.
