  • I think it would have helped more if the camera would have stayed facing you instead of changing as you impacted the ball

  • @JSOO59 I'll keep that in mind next golf tip edit. I hope the cut didn't ruin the video so much you weren't able to learn.

  • I was looking for a swing that I could fall back on if things were not going well off the Tee. This lesson was just what I was looking for. It's so clear and simple that I will also use it to teach my grandson to play the game. Thank you Gale!

  • Some good things in this video but

why are the divots and the balls flying way right of where she is aiming?

  • @TheNYgolfer Come on - that is not a nice comment. She is a great teacher.

  • I love it!

  • I wish I'd seen this 10 years ago. Drag the handle past the ball and trust the club to get to the ball by gravity alone.

    Great, thanks.

  • twenty year golfer always willing to learn ...thanks

  • One of the problems beginners experience, is their backswing is too fast. Your backswing can be super slow and does not change your power or accuracy, so practive pausing at the top of your swing.

The other mistake is "jabbing" at the ball, whereby you pull out of that follow through. Therefore you are relying on your hand speed to generate ball speed.

  • I am a professional golfer. Watch her left arm and notice how that arm stays straight in the backswing and the follow through which is a little harder for a woman than a man. But that straight arm with a full shoulder turn is the basic fundamental to power and accuracy.

  • many thanks I've been watching this with my oldest son aged 6. Very easy to follow and very effective. His swing is coming on well. Hope you like my video response.

  • starting to learn golf! pretty awesome! =) go golf!

  • This is a brilliant video!! Is this the same for the driver?

I can't seem to swing consistent with my driver. At times, I'll be at the range and the ball flies...I get to the course, and it's like I haven't EVER swung the club.

I began the summer in the mid 100's. Mid summer, I broke 100 (averaged mid to low 90s). I even broke 90 twice!!!! For me to be consistently in the 80s, my driving needs to be more consistent, getting more FIRS. Chipping and putting are fine. HELP!

  • I watched her clip several times and my swing has really improved, she finally got through to me. I just finished a round this morning, where I did not miss hit a single shot. The key for me has been my backswing, and keeping my mind on my hands. All my clubs have really improved.

  • To build the swing from the ground up is critical good video. I teach all my students to do that

  • I think she is implying that if you do the correct backswing, and then downswing, your lower body automatically shifts...you dont really have to think about it, just as you dont think about your moving in balance when walking.

  • TGM lady.

  • Ultimately it doesn't matter how you swing. The goal is getting the ball in the hole with the least amount of shots. Do what works. Period.

  • Fantastic!

  • Geez you make it look so easy

  • Nice free lesson, eh?

  • I am just starting to play golf. I hit my irons / pitching wedge pretty well. However, I am having trouble hitting my short irons / pitching wedge after rain. It feels like I am pushing the ball into the ground and the ground gives too much making the ball be very "flat" having no power and only going about 20 yards... (This was done with the pitching wedge. Any tips on how I can correct this? Thank you for your time.

  • Thankyouuuuuuuu!!! from colombia!!! I was hcp 22 and now Im 14 in two months!!! youre my perfect teacher!!

  • well done, informative and concise. thank you

  • step 1 is a chip, step 2 a pitch, right?

  • Don't believe that it's simple … it only looks like as it is

    Happy building :D

  • I wish it were that easy.

  • THANK YOU!

  • Nice lesson - thanks.

  • Simple and brilliant instruction!

  • Gale's breakdown of a swing is on target and helpful

    for most high handicappers

  • She has the same voice as Roseanne :-)

  • Excellent video accept you left out the weight shift and turn on the left side
