  • @ckybrybry

    power and the glory

  • where's SCORPIONS?

  • There is a difference between hard rock, heavy metal and hair bands. Just because they are from 70s or 80s doesnt mean heavy metal. VH never was and will never be heavy metal as well as def leppard. Kiss is well Kiss. They are marketing genuises and change as what people want change hell they even did a disco album and did the hair band thing in early mid 80s when they dumped their makeup and had semi hits with Lick it up and Heavens on Fire.

  • \m/ ( - - ) \m/

  • @reckless1ify Probably in a trash metal video... From what i see this video is more about glam metal

  • BON JOVI 4 EVER

  • Hell yeah KISS! But where is Metallica?

  • Comment removed

  • BON JOVI THE BEST

  • Great collection of 80s classics. Saw all those bands live except for Girlschool and Rose Tattoo. I'll be scarred for life.

  • wheres alice cooper ? i would also ask wheres venom, slayer & the plasmatics but guess this is not a thrash metal list. but come on you gotta include alice

  • Not bad, I grew up in the 80's...I give it a two thumbs up

  • van halen reminds me of dr rockso

  • IRON MAIDEN! one of the best in that selection. Up the Irons!

  • why is Bon Jovi on this list?!?!?! NOT METAL!!!

  • @BigMFnD1972 And you are not in that list...so youre not metal

  • @BonJovi01FanS I dont know why people always include Bon Jovi in Heavy Metal music?!?! Yes, they are most definetly rock & roll (and most recently country)......but not metal! still a great band though.

  • and? and? and?????? and later?

  • Don't know whether to be proud or sad that I only didn't know 4 of them, 2 of which I'd simply never heard of.... and this was all recorded before I was born :/

Can sure as hell be certain 80's videos were cheesy as hell tho!

  • Excellent choice!

  • WHITESNAKE ?

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! mr.ozzy fucking osbourne best!!!!!!!

  • finally a good list lol

  • This was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/

  • As an aussie i'm ultra happy Rose tattoo snuck in. Not metal - but fucking great rock n Roll. This list is fun!

  • There will always be an endless debate about what is hard rock and what is not

and what is H.M. and what is not.All these bands here just ROCK.

  • @THRASHFKINFILLETS

I agree for the most part accept for: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, accept, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, & Ozzy. May not be "METAL" by todays standards but definatly Metal by the early 80's standards.

  • Where is manowar?

  • Some of you guys are too funny trying to figure out "just exactly what is Metal." I'm 47 years old and was right in the middle of all this music. Bands that were considered heavy metal in 1980, was no longer considered metal by the mid to late 80's. If you heard Van Halen's "Eruption" on a turntable in 1978, you knew darn well you were hearing heavy metal. There was so much metal in the 80's they had to classify it a lot of different ways. IE Glam, Death/Black, Thrash, Commercial/pop metal.

  • Awweeee, early Leppard. I miss you so much. What did they do to you!

  • W.T.F !!! O.O Where are Metallica?

  • @SimonePage1997

No videos available... unless they are bootlegs! :-) And Metallica were just getting (slightly) big in and around 1984 ... so if there was to be made a video for 1985-1989, then they would more likely be part of that! Even though I know that both KEA and RTL are both KICK-ASS albums from this video's time frame...:-)

  • NOTHING LIKE SOME DOKKEN AND DEF LEPP!!!

  • @TRAVAM91 DOKKEN IS SICK!

  • Great compilation guys! If anyone is interested in UNRELEASED 1980's music, just type in L.A. Ryder in the search box and hear some cool sounds from back in the day, fresh from the 1/4 inch analog reel!!!! Hear these jams!!!!!

  • Bloody hell!!! Van halen is NOT METAL . The confusion continues :( Most of these bands are hard rock and i see this constantly on the net.

  • @uhltron neither was Bonjovi, But hey most on here are Metal

like Accept & Maiden. some say AC/DC isn't but in the 80's they got heaverier like kiss did &

had some Heavy songs. VH influenced alot of Metal Bands but yeah i would call the "Metal" either.

  • @uhltron Van Halen is not pure metal, they definitely have some heavy metal songs(house of pain, loss of control, girl gone bad, romeo delight, hang em high) they influenced the metal scene so much. I would call them Heavy Rock, they are a little heavier than typical hard rock. they are badass and kick-ass nonetheless. Better than the majority of these bands in my opinion. My opinion.

  • NO Metallica?????????????????????????????

  • UP THE IRONS!

  • I remember that years!!!!! Men...they not make bands like that!!!

  • I started with bands you inserted....it is great! But it is poor without W.a.s.p., Queensryche, Manowar, Thor, Ted Nugent, Raven, Anvil, Icon, Headpins, Lee Aaron,Loudness...:-)))))) greetings from Serbia!!!!

And i do not care cause some bands are not heavy metal for some guys...they are stars which belong to constellation called HEAVY METAL! sure,

  • uh,forgive me for being contrary but you gave motorhead 4 seconds??yet bon jovi gets 30-40 seconds?Maybe this was metal to you.And undoubtedly some of the bands were metal to me too butthe name made me think this was exclusively "metal" .....Dokken?Def Leppard?KISS?......even AC/DC- a band i love! but not metal..no-i've never called them metal neither has anyone i know who is into metal.Nice montage my friend but IMHO the title is misleading and most of the content is 80's rock.

  • no wasp??

  • when you see the pentagram on drum set you know who it is

  • angus young nuff said

  • Ummm..KISS Metal? I don't thin so

  • @clic0419 You dont think Kiss is metal but Bon Jovi is?

  • @clic0419 80's KISS is glam metal.

  • Pretty cool, but how the hell did Van Halen get on a Metal montage and why would you start the video with them? With all respect dude, VH were NOT metal and Def Lepard hardly fit the bill either. IMO

  • the real deal, no core shit.

  • @pablotepa13 core is a disease that shouldn't exist, so are today's "metal" and the 2000s

  • Guys i want to start a Facebook group of metal all kinds of 80s metal But it says Members and i don't have friends on Facebook that like metal since i don't really use Facebook if anyone of you guys have a Facebook and would like to start a group with me tell me and ill tell my name and you'll tell me yours so we could be friends and then put you guys as members if we do this and get a lot of people to like this we can bring back metal like this.

  • RIP Randy The Guitar God.

  • rest in peace dio<3

  • Van Halen isnt metal either, but everyone these days has no clue about that. Come to think of it neither is Dokken, or kiss. Great videos, I enjoy them... takes me back. But the metal purist in me is screaming

  • @1zumbalove: I think that the Word METAL is a blanket term to put any band that has Loud Mean Riffs and souring vocals into a category, i think now you could take all those bands and put them into Sub-Categories of the Genre.

For Example Dokken is Considered a Melodic Hard Rock or Melodic Metal band but In the end Journalists just lump them into the METAL category, infact i think Journalists came up with the Term Heavy Metal

  • LONG LIVE RONNIE

  • break the law !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just amazing... good times that will never come back !!! :(

  • heavy metal is defined by the drum beat alex used a metal beat they are heavey metal...they claimed not to be because of a boycott of the grammies when the very first heavey metal winner was jethro tull...a defanately non heavy metal band. and for those who are wondering a metal beat is a drum beat that emphasises the back beat instead of the heartbeat

  • heavy metal is defined by the drum beat alex used a metal beat they are heavey metal...they claimed not to be because of a boycott of the grammies when the very first heavey metal winner was jethro tull...a defanately non heavy metal band

  • Van Helen isnt metal! They might be hard rock, but they arent metal.

    Lemmy, Saxon and Accept.

  • Van Helen isnt metal! They might be hard rock, but they arent metal.

  • @Gcrash95 They're an Australian band in the same flavor as AC/DC. AC/DC got them signed to the same label as them and Rose Tattoo had the same producers as AC/DC. They were bigger in the late '70's. Check out "Bad Boy For Love" and then go and listen to AC/DC's "She's Got Balls" very similar.

  • OZZY! OZZY! OZZY! GOD & LEGEND! OZZY! OZZY! OZZY!
