Where do you think that paper you used came from, buffer zones around water ways help to prevent the runoff of silt and herbicides into creeks and strees. Massive fires occurred because 100 years of mismanagement brought us unhealthy trees in unnatural densities and distributions. Clear cutting just continues this dangerous cycle. Responsible logging is good, thinning trees and keeping them healthy. Clear cutting is horrible for us and the environment.

Um, trees grow back. Clearcuting must not be a real problem or good capitalists wouldn't do it. They're all about profit and you don't profit from ground laying fallow. If you people could learn that trees are not very different from Corn or any other crop then you'd be on the way to understanding.

True if the wood is managed responsibly. Clear cutting often involves replanting a monoculture of trees that require pesticides and chemicals, some of which end up in our water that cannot be completely filtered out. Some of these chemicals may cause feminization of males from childhood exposure. Do you really want your kids drinking this stuff? The timber industry CAN be clean but it is NOT when it's being run solely for profit.
