As a Catholic, I believe the Saints are with God. I pray to the Saints (and Mary) to ask them to pray for me as I would ask a friend or another Christian to pray for (or with) me. I don't worship the Saints or Mary as God, but they are with God in heaven and don't have the human world distracting them as I do, and they have no doubts about who God is. Therefore, they can pray to God and Christ with the complete faith that it is hard to maintain here on earth. The Bible does say to pray together.

Catholics use statues, paintings, and other artistic devices to recall the person or thing depicted. Just as it helps to remember one’s mother by looking at her photograph, so it helps to recall the example of the saints by looking at pictures of them. Catholics also use statues as teaching tools. As a Catholic, I believe the Saints are with God. I pray to the Saints (and Mary) to ask them to pray for me as I would ask a friend or another Christian to pray for (or with) me. I don't worship the Saints or Mary as God, but they are with God in heaven and don't have the human world distracting them as I do, and they have no doubts about who God is. Therefore, they can pray to God and Christ with the complete faith that it is hard to maintain here on earth. The Bible does say to pray together.

@HiFiman4u that clearly means to we dont worship any other before Him. We don't worship Mary, we ask Her to PRAY for US just as everyone of us ask to pray for one another. Saint Paul said it in His Writings that we pray for one another.

Mary's job was finished when she delivered Jesus to the world. She is not ro be worshiped as the 'queen of heaven' because she was just another human being. Granted, she found favor in God's sight and became the mother of the son of God.
Worship and adore Jesus only...He paid the price for our souls on the cross. Mary was not up there with him. Jesus instructed an apostle to care for her...Jesus is the only WAY!

Mary is bound up in the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. We, Catholics, Honor Her and Respect Her because the HOLY TRINITY honors Her, so why can't you? Yes she is the "Queen of Heaven" why? because Her Son is the King. Simple as that. :) God bless!!

Don't you Mary worshippers read the Bible? Jesus Christ is the ONLY mediator between man and God. Revering or worshipping statues is idolatry which is forbidden in the Bible. Jesus said to pray in His name, not in Mary's name.
Alot of these 'miracles' are lying signs and wonders from demons.

@mystic81006 Though bowing can be used as a posture in worship, not all bowing is worship. In Japan, people show respect by bowing in greeting.Similarly, a person can kneel before a king without worshipping him as a god.In the same way, a Catholic who may kneel in front of a statue while praying isn’t worshipping the statue or even praying to it,any more than the Protestant who kneels with a Bible in his hands when praying is worshipping the Bible or praying to it.God knows whats in our hearts.

@rcporras Bowing down to any dead statue is worship all together,to show any revrence to a statue is just that,worship.Even owning a statue is wrong as we are not to carve any image out of stone.Your point is not valid as even kneeling in front of any statue carved out of stone in the image of mary is a sin agienst God. Plus you got the ten commandments out of context, because if God won't allow to create statues, why would He command to make them. He truly meant the worshipping of statues w/c we catholics don't do.

@mystic81006 you did not take the whole chapter in context.He did said to not make them to worship them.What did he do next in Exodus 25:18-20.He in fact said to make one.You take things in context when you don't take the bible in GENERAL from OT to NT.Of course God commanded to not make statues that represent other gods~to worship them.So those artists,who sculpted hero statues,have disobeyed the 2nd law? i dont think so. Cherry picking verses is bad,when you dont take EVERYTHING as a whole. :)

The story you know is catholic dogma I would wager. Just like the scriptures are taken out of context and it is believed by catholics that Peter was the first pope. Either way, it's a losing argument for both parties.
The fact is that the "virgin" Mary is A: No longer a virgin. Jesus had at least one brother, and B: She's dead and awaiting tribulation like all others.

@mystic81006 there we go, you put me back again with bowing. I am with you, I don't totally disagree with statue worship but the question is, do we worship them??? no. Catholics use statues, paintings, and other artistic devices to recall the person or thing depicted. Just as it helps to remember one’s mother by looking at her photograph, so it helps to recall the example of the saints by looking at pictures of them. Catholics also use statues as teaching tools. Go read the whole OT, there are some instances He commanded to make them, but when the people start to worship them as their "god" that is when God gets mad. You take things in context and to the most fundamentalistic way, cherry picking verses then disregarding the whole scriptures. I suggest you read more, and get the whole picture.
