  • And if you think he's miming your a tard! Most videos on YouTube are out of sync! OMG! Why would he even mime there's no point!

  • @skepticalsectator You think blues is boring because you don't feel it, and blues isn't dying because look at the crossroads festival. Get your facts right before you comment!

  • he sucks he sings from his throat hes a douchebag according to some people who have met him in person

  • @dmohr7

His singing isnt as good as it could be, and maybe he is a douche bag in person, but to say he sucks is being fucking ignorant. Look at some of his blues stuff, he can play the guitar. Its easy to talk shit from behind a computer screen isnt it?

  • The simple reason blues is dying is because blues is simple and musically boring, and I say that as an experienced guitarist who has sat in on too many blues jams to count and played blues till my fingers fell off. I'm tired of the blues.

  • @skepticalspectator try tellin that to bb king--- hes been at it for around 70 years and i serioulsy doubt he thinks its boring

  • what song is this????

  • @detroidxl I'm pretty sure it's Gravity .

  • Sometimes it takes a "pop star" to keep the blues alive.

The Beatles and Stones did it - blues music would probably have been completely lost in the 60's if them and other British bands didn't repackage it and bring it back as something other than "race" music.

Well done john - keep on keeping that blues alive brother.

  • god forbid you finish the recording

  • it is out of sync...i just shot video from the Kings of Leon concert last Wed, and it looks like Caleb is lip synching like a mo-fo...but he wasn't. Not sure what happens from a distance when you record video, then play back, but the audio and vid don't match. There are plenty of JM vids to see, showing that he indeed is a very talented guitar player. There is no need to "fake it" by "not playing". Especially youtube Crossroads with him and Eric Clapton, and his stuff with BB. He's good.

  • good? lol

  • Even if he were faking this- which he isn't- there are at least 100 other videos of him playing way better without faking it. The video is just out of sync.

  • dont let the screaming girls and popularity fool you john mayer can play the guitar

  • there ARE as good guitarist as jimmy hendrix (not john mayer) its just that he made something new

  • chill out boys and girls, it's music

  • someone someday is going to be better than jimi hendrix and srv.

  • I hope I live to see that.

  • though plenty are technically better.

    their still not better.

but personally i think stevie ray is better than hendrix.

style , technique , and soul.

  • both great artist. yeah anyone can learn to play fast. but its all about the notes you play and the sound you create

  • hes not better than SRV. great but no one can beat stevie and jimmi in terms of originality as well as technical skill

  • I have to disagree. There have been quite a few people to beat Stevie Ray, technically wise. I mean, listen to most of his stuff, it's mostly bends, vibrato, and hammer and pull offs. I love stevie like my father, but he wasn't that technical. But the amount of FEELING that was in both their playing gives me goosebumps.

  • You can see alot of Stevie ray vaughan in him. He's a greater player. underated but each to there own.

  • Nice solo.

  • douker is a fag

  • John Mayer's blues playing is so awesome. He is a guitar hero. When he goes onstage with his Fender Strat, he pulls out a can of whip-ass!!!!

Man, this guy can play the blues!!!!

  • Glad the blues guitar is still strong

  • Shake your head and dance around all you want, JM, we can all see that you're playing the same 3 notes over and over again.

  • are you blind? i saw a lot more than that. pay more attention to the fingers than to him supposedly "jumping around"

  • I've been playing for three months and I sound way better than this chump. Even Berkeley School of Music couldn't save him. Except to teach him how to sell out.

  • Yeah, i bet man. Your 3 months against his 15 years, I'm sure you're far superior.

  • Man if it takes you 15 years to play like this then there's something wrong.

  • if you think you are so good then show post a vid if you are so mighty.

  • ur a fag

  • Wow. Uh, you sure showed me. hahahaha nice comment, big guy.

  • you are extremely arrogant...

my best friend is a student at BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MSUIC...not "berkeley school of music"...you are a moron. Berklee is among the best places you can go as a seirous music student. I doubt your ass could ever get in. Look at list of Berklee alums (for all instruments). None of which have SOLD OUT. JM made a pop record so he oculd make money, and do whatever the hell he wanted when he was on tour (play blues/funk)

  • lol someone sounds a little bitter. you think he's cute dont you ;)

  • LOL

  • Find me a fantastic/legendary blues guitarist who went to Berklee...

The best talents there usually drop out, anyways. Look at people like Johnny A...

  • I've seen some horrible, horrible musicians come out of the best schools. Unfortunately no amount of education will fix a lack of taste.

That said, I have no idea what this discussion is about and John Mayer is cool.

  • I think the best musicians go to Berklee to "meet" people. A degree from there doesn't matter that much but meeting the right musicians for what you want to do definitely does. A degree in music doesn't really get you that far if you want to tour and what not. If you want to teach then its great though

  • amen!

  • @douker

You couldn't play your way out of a wet paper bag, you douche. Oh, and what's Berkeley School of Music? Is that like BERKLEE College of Music in Boston? You dumb fuck.

  • lol hop off mayer's nuts anytime you groupie. he's MEDIOCRE.

And yea, i've only been playing for a year and a half but anyone who puts that much time and money into music should be able to come up with more than a few teenie bopper manufactured sellout hits.

But i guess you dig that stuff ;)

  • @douker

LOL. Why do you assume I'm a Mayer fan?? I'm not defending Mayer. I'm simply shitting on YOU. Hop off Mayer's nuts, lol. Cute. Too bad I had seen SRV multiple times before your Mommy had even finished potty training you. As far as "digging that stuff," scroll through my favorites and you'll see the players I'M about. Just be sure to take out a pen & paper first. You may want to write the names down, as you won't find them in your Guitar mags. Now, get back to your barre chords, son.

  • Oh sorry I assumed this video was about John Mayer, but I can see you just want to talk about YOU. I'm glad you're a seasoned veteran of the guitar world, maistro.

As for me, I'm a hobbyist who has other things to do in life. I play guitar because I enjoy it, and that being said, I am entitled to my opinions of sellout musicians.

Now if you want to disagree with my opinion, that's understandable, but it seems like you just want to spout useless guitar knowledge and make condescending comments

  • @douker

Man, you're simple. You claimed in your original post here that after 3 months of playing, you were better than Mayer. I responded to that silliness, & now it's "you just want to talk about YOU." Now after having your bullshit exposed, your defense is, "I'm a hobbyist." No, you're a clown. As for your opinions, sure you're entitled to them. Just as I'm entitled to point out that your opinions are meaningless. When YOU move past being a HOBBYIST, you can judge other musicians. Deal?

  • But if youtube is the only place you can stroke your ego as a 43 year old, then I won't stop you lol

  • @douker

As for being a MAISTRO...Is that anything like a MAESTRO? If so, please let me know. Yeah, you're a real think-tank aren't you? I do love the entertainment value guys like you provide on youtube. The level of ineptitude demonstrated via statements like, "Ive been playing for 3 months you were better than Mayer," is fantastic. When called out in it, all you offer is bitterness & sarcasm, ala "you're a seasoned veteran..." Well, since you brought it up, yeah I am. Sucks to be you, huh?

  • @67goldtops A surprising bulk of Mayer fans have this strangely rabid defensive behaviour that is hard to grasp, Methinks they have been primed to fandom in their toddlerhood by the likes of Barney the Dinosaur and Raffi; with Madonna as the 'grownup's music to grow into'. John Mayer is the most likely natural progression in this environment: the triumph of mediocrity. There were no Elvis, Beatles or Who scaling previously untrammeled heights; JM is a lesser walker in trailworn footprints.

  • @korgri

"A lesser walker in trailworn footprints." Do you mind if I steal that?

  • @67goldtops 'Do you mind if I steal that?'

Sir, I would be honored. Steal away, grab with both hands in the full lust of larceny, felony and just plain good ol' greedy criminal intent. An honestly refreshing breath of genuinely rarefied air for those drowning in this deluge of elevated bland.

  • @67goldtops Awesome come back -_-

  • @douker Put up some vids!

  • listen all you people bashing this guy , face it this guy doesn't get the credit he desirves plus he nailing astinton !

  • Every generation of blues is different. Compare BB to Clapton. Clapton to SRV. SRV to Kenny Wayne Shepherd. And now John Mayer is today's blues guitarist. He also plays some more mellow stuff too. It's like comparing Metallica to Godsmack. 2 completely different sounds. Who is Gadsmack's biggest influence? Metallica. Don't judge' til you're in their shoes.

  • yeah, thats dead on and really smart.

its evolution of music, creating a different breed out of the ashes of the older breed.

  • your exactly right man. i mean, the only requirement to get into Berkley is that you know the pentatonic scale in Em/G. you sound a little green, and obviously haven't heard enough mayer to comment.

  • LOL you go around John Mayer's video's and reply shitty comments. how nice of you. haha

  • you are such an idiot, srv and hendrix both uses almost solely pentatonic riffs and licks, and mayer, hendrix, and vaughan all use the same or similear licks. dont negatively comment unless you have actual information to back it, factual information

  • Talk all you want!! he's the one with the money and the girls !! lololol I study music as well and the more I learn the more I see that the simple the better !! You don't see Dream Theater with that amount of fans or shows !! WHY???? lolololo

  • This is the worse comment i've ever seen.. ´do u really think anybody except urself wants to listen to ur crap!? shut the ´fuck up and stop posting such wimpy comments, fucking hater! JM PLAYS SO MUCH MORE THAN Em/G!!! u know nothing about his guitar skills, he went to berklee you idiot

  • John Mayer is the biggest sellout in music history

  • wow...... your the bigger person...... bitch

  • wow... you're a disgruntled john mayer fan. haha.

  • that may be but it does not distract us from the fact that your a bitch

  • haha you sure told me didn't you? go listen to your body is a wonderland or something you fairy

  • wow your using opinions to insult me you told me to listen to a song that you dont like to insult me.... your an idiot and the fact that you do not need to comment against john mayer on a john mayer video. you can leave and complete forget about it. and

  • Youtube is a place for sharing opinions, and it appears that YOU are the one who can't tolerate people who disagree with you. Have a nice day, bigot!

  • well you didnt say you didnt like john mayer(an opinion) you said he only plays like 5 chords(trying to state a fact) and cannot do a solo which he does, so i told about it, i did not disagree with your opinion, i disagree with you sating he can only play 5 chords

  • Haha wrong again. I do believe I accused him of trying to cover up the fact that his soloing consists of only a few notes by shaking his head about and whipping himself into a frenzy onstage. If you can see his hands move anywhere between the first one or two positions of the minor pentatonic scale, please let me know.

  • then watch other john mayer solo vids this isnt the only one. and i said that you said te things that he only played on stage. and you can't usd opinions to insult you cant tell to listen to a song that you dont like and expect it to insult you idiot.

  • That makes absolutely no sense. Stick to your little anime videos, big guy.

  • are you that fucking stupid? i said make a video, am i going to fast for you?, of you playing the guitar because you are so great at it. and we will see if you are better than john mayer, do you understand that. and once again using an opinion to insult is that all you have? "stick to your anime videos" you are a narcissistic, ignorant, egotistical prick

  • haha sore subject i see. Do you get picked on a lot at school? Do you use Youtube as a way to lash out at people?

  • get picked on? what the fuck are you talking about? good job trying to find a way to respond to my last comment. i see that you couldn't counter me and decided to act smart by trying to know my personnal life. i do not get picked on at i school people who mess with me end up with shattered spirits or bones. so screw you bucko

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I'm sorry. shattered spirits or bones. I'm officially done. this has become far too comical for me to even argue anymore. I appreciate the internet bravado though. I really thought it was going extinct. You rock, my friend.

  • alright then

  • You don't know what you're talking about. John Mayer is awesome.

This guy knows how to play the blues!!!

  • that's funny.. I know some of his songs in Dm, E, Eb, Bb, A, D, etcetcetc.. he also hardly ever stays in one key during a song.. and I've heard him play in, well, about every scale I know.. minor pentatonic, major pentatonic, ionic/dorian/etc, hexatonic (though I haven't heard him play that one a lot), dim scale, etcetcetc... I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the scales he uses, but he probably used octatonic and others too..

    die

  • he does play solos you dumb ass

  • oh wow haha, ended with castles made of sand

  • that's in Manchester, NH right?

  • Right
