  • Hi, good tutorials !

What did you use for make your screen capture ? Thx

  • Thanks

  • Thank you

only video that seemed to work

  • I want to french kiss you for making this video

  • Is this for Windows?

  • Is it me or is that Dr Hannibal Lector narrating this clip ....spooky ! Bet he is sipping a nice glass of chianti ...

  • its really amazing what you can do with logic studio. i'm starting to become an avid user of the program. check out the music "DON'T LOOK BACK" that i composed using logic studio. i have others too.

  • RE: @souldelete

hi there, this was a great help but i cant help but notice my sounds different? yours goes up the scale nicely but mine just goes straight forward like a kick drum, i really like the sound of your, please could you tell me what i might be doing wrong?

Hello I accidentally deleted your comment.

To achieve this you must have a chord playing. With just a single note the arpeggiator will not go either up or down, it will only repeat the note values assigned to it.

    Cheers!

  • this really helped me, and i managed to make the track arpeggiate, how ever, when i bounce it, the track plays normally, and is not arpeggiated any more. any help???

  • Did you ever figure that out yet about the bounce with the arpeggiator?

  • ya you have to make sure you bounce in "Realtime" if you set it up this way. the default mode is set to "Offline". it's in the bounce screen

  • you must bounce the track in realtime, not offline if you want to keep the arpeggio

  • From Wikipedia:

"An arpeggiator... allows the player to automatically step through a sequence of notes based on the player's input, most often from a keyboard MIDI controller, thus creating an arpeggio. The notes can then be transmitted to a MIDI sequencer for recording and further editing."

This video was awesome and I LOVE this guy's voice.

    Very helpful.

  • what exactly does a arpeggiator do? can any1 explain?

  • Finally! It took a while to find a good video tutorial on this! The arpeggiator is such a basic thing, I don't get why they made it so hard to get...

  • thanks you, great video, simple & informative.

    My question was quickly solved.

  • there's nothing like a user friendly arpeggiator. and this is nothing like a user friendly arpeggiator. i'm off to buy numerology.

  • i have logic pro 8, but not all those synth plug-ins. is this for logic studio only? am i a n00b?

  • We will choose 4.

  • The Logic arpeggiator is a joke. After all this time, there should finally be a real arpeggiator plug-in (selectable right in the mixer channel strip) which includes hundreds of intelligent patterns - including "feel" by varying length, groove, and velocity - and user-programmable patterns. The MIDI output should be recordable into a track.

  • agreed, it's terrible. I think Logic needs ot get with MIDI plugins like cubase & sonar when they finaly update to v9

  • is that your voice or a computer voice?

  • I AM a computer.

    Ever heard of GLADOS? ;)

  • i have been looking everywhere for the answer to this very question - whether logic can make arppegios or not so i can decide whether to just buy a midi controller or a workstation an apple employee who did a workshop on logic and sales reps at Sam Ash did not know the answer to this simple ques

2 sales reps told me that the only way to mnake an arppegiator in Logic is to make it externally on a workstation then import the data in as a track

  • make sure you tell people to bounce in Real Time, as opposed to Offline, or you will just hear chords when it exports. took me a while to figure that out ha

  • Good call! I'll add it with the comments on the video.

  • Damn Thanks so much! I had no idea Logic 8 even had an Arpeggiator! I'm gonna put this knowledge to work right away :)

  • Another tip if anyone is interested.

Open key editor (alt +K) Under Global Commands find "Set Locators by Region/Events". Click learn by key and hit the shift and tild buttons (the two to the left of Z!)

I use this in a combination with Alt A (select all parts) then shift + tild (to set the locators for all parts) and then finally C to put Logic into cycle mode.

I find this a quick way to get a track ready to bounce down or play through. Not sure if there is a quicker way at all tho?

  • i like the arp in logic.. but you should see what the cubase arpache can do.. you create your custom arpeggios in it !! Apart from doing what the logic arp does.. you can make a one or two bar midi file with the choice of your own intervals and notes.. and just playon!!

for eg .. you could make a gm drumkit pattern and save it and use it with altogether different kit .. !!

  • ok i just got logic and dont even know how to start a new project let alone record anything...all these videos/forums are great but futile to a beginner like me. is there anything out there that starts from the absolute begging?! thanx

  • Read the manual!, I never liked that answer, but the big set of books that came with Logic Studio has a purpose.

I know many people buy or get LS and don't know how to make music or how to use any DAW, that is not a problem it only means it will be harder for them.

But the manual on LS is one of the best ever written.

  • thanks, always wondered where the arp. was

  • How did you change the color of the arrange background to green?

  • Hello sourberrymusic,

    Go to the following menu:

LOGIC PRO > Preferences > Display... > Arrange (tab)

And you will find a Background color menu, choose "Custom" and pick your color.

    Cheers.

  • Iv had logic for flipping ages, and i didnt know how to do that :) thanks

  • My pleasure, some functions remain "hidden" until you need them.

  • Fascinating. I am just starting to learn Logic, and its capabilities seem practically endless. Thanks for the tutorial!

    Cheers,

    PoA

  • Thank you PreacherofArrakeen, Logic is a universe in itself isn't it?

Seems to have everything and more!

  • Yes, which begs the question: how do you avoid getting bogged down in the endless choices at your disposal?

    Again, thanks!

    PoA

  • I use it as a vehicle, not as a destination.

First I think about where I want to go with my songs, then I just set the controls in Logic and away I go...

  • Great tutorials. Keep them coming. :)

  • hey!! thanks for the tutorial.. i just have one problem.. When i bounce there s no arpeggiator in the mix.. Can you help me..

    thanks a million

    Chris

  • Hello christpoic, first of all thank you for watching my videos of all videos out there.

Now about your problem can you tell me if you are using an external instrument to be arpeggiated?

Then what version of Logic do you have?.

    Au revoir.

  • i used two software instruments tracks.. Actualy 5.. 2 for the synths, and one arpeggiator for each synth plus one for a different arpeggios one one of the synth.. I use logic studio 8 also.. weird!! Gonna try to figure it out and give u news to tell you what went wrong..

    merci!!

  • Hello, I understand what you mean now.

Try bouncing the tracks in real time, that should do it!

  • YESS!! it works.. dont know why but it does.. Should i always bounce in real time? Keep up the tutorials.. very inspiring.. thanks again

    chris

  • nice and simple.. you gotta love logic :) thx 4 the vid!!

  • thank you for this vid

  • Thank you, I know the arpeggiator implementation is not the best thing in Logic, but It's not rocket science either.

    Thank you for subscribing.

  • Wow, I've never seen an easier tutorial on the Arpeggiator. I can't wait to try it.
