Gayfers flagship department store was the only anchor truly keeping Springdale Mall relevant in its last two decades. Retail wise, the mall began to falter in the last quarters of 1998, when Gayfers was acquired by Dillards and Montgomery Ward closed their Mobile location.

Interesting. I didn't know Springdale Mall was ever used in a movie. I live in Pensacola which is not far from Mobile.
