Why do stupid people like this guy feel like he needs to waste my money to support his whining, complaing ass in jail for three days. For what to prove a point, instead of intellectully changing things. Join politics, get on a board and make a difference instead of wasting the peoples money in court costs, and jail time. These people are a huge burden.
The city taking property for violation of taxes is unfortunate. That was the reason for Prop 13 in California. Property owners were getting squeezed out of the land and investments by Big Gov raising property tax rates arbitrarily to meet their spending desires. Although that's a bit different than back tax issue, eg State Income Tax, etc.
In any case, Jesse doesn't have the right to seize property. And the $5000 food co-op study was likely a liberal social program. Plenty of time to shave now.
In the video the gardener moved dirt and clearing out debris underneath the dirt for public safety damn he should be awards a metal but instead he got arrest fined and jailed. Some people will defend the Police State at all cost.
why should he have the right to choose to put a garden there any more than someone else who wants to use it for a strip club or skating park? Maybe someone would like to use that space to build a swimming pool or dig a latrene?
Some of this stuff really isn't thought through very much. Its like walking and putting a bucket on your head, bouncing into walls and then trying to sway others that it adds some productive value to a greater cause. It shows no skill and attracts little support.
When I hear the word "excavation", I generally think of somebody digging up pipes or erecting some kind of permanent structure, not planting a damn flower. This doesn't even rise to the level of vandalism. If nobody complains and there's no victim, the cops should stay out of it.
what did he do? He moved dirt. And that sparked an arrest. Terrible. I better not move my pencil too far... Might poke somebody in the finger. Or his eye.
The Concord model is superior. Get a hundred gardens going on obscure plots of land in Keene and then you have an unenforced ordinance. Going right for Central Square works against public support. Try planting flowers on a median, then when you're arrested for it you'll get good press coverage. Maximize absurdity to maximize sympathy.
What about getting some children practiced in the art of Gardening and send them to that little area with hoes and seeds. I wonder how the cops would handle it.
A food co-op is a good idea for Keene. Kind of an expanded and permanent farmer's market.
I definitely don't agree with the private appropriation of public land to achieve that.
This is an interesting ploy to garner public support for libertarian causes though. Concocting a scheme where a city officer is on video arresting a peaceful gardener is um, unique.
He wasn't really gardening though. Shouldn't the headline read "outlaw tax protester arrested."

@ 2:36 I realized that Keene must've been where much of Jumanji was shot (by the white steeple). This was before I saw the "Parrish Shoes."
Keene, NH just got a whole lot cooler in my book. Ya know, apart from all the wonderful liberty activists. : D
