PET bottles do work with .22 caliber weapons. But they must be securely attached. Make an adapter and THREAD them on and they work fine for about 10 shots. Larger caliber weapons like this are too powerful for PET bottles.

@ipscukr They work on lower caliber weapons like .22s; search it and you'll see many successful attempts. The ones that do work do not contain any water or glue or other nonsense.

This goes out to everyone thats talking about improvised silencers. The way a silencer works is by slowing down the sound saves. Do do this you need more than just a water bottle. Think of how a subwoofer works. You need an enclosure and materials inside to slow down the sound to give it a nice rich tone. This is the same with silencers. Since your in russia, try stuffing it somewhat tight with cotton balls or toilet paper. You will tell a difference, but its only good for 1 or 2 shots.

@obeyance again - you have no clue what you are talking about. "slowing down" sound waves (lower the Hz) - makes the sound DEEPER. Speeding them UP makes them HIGHER. THE SPEED OF SOUND IS A CONSTANT IN A VACUUM - in normal condidtions, it is ~340 m/s.
