I really like your works, I am wondering if I can e-mail you and ask your other experience of pit firing as I am going to do that same thing as you have done, your work is just really really good... Joseph
I used copper carbonate, RIO and salt. I soaked cotton rags and straw in the mixture, allowed to dry and stuffed the pots, straw, rags, in paper bags. Wrapped the bags in twine and fired. Handfuls of rock salt here and there
I keep going back to look at these amazing pots! I now have a downdraft kiln and have done one firing which turned out quite good. Will you share some of your techniques? As in what bisque temp, what chemicals in the barrel & your t sig recipe. See mine at playsinclay.blogspot.com
Thanks for the prompt response. I love it that potters share their knowledge.
I do a lot of burnishing. I use the back of a spoon or a large clear Christmas tree light. They are pointed and the point comes in handy to burnish inside of curves where a spoon won't fit.

Did you use any chemicals or just natural fuming stuff?

I ended up using pure carnuba (sic) wax from the auto parts store

this is among the best barrel firing I have ever seen! Did you put terra sig on all the pots? I am off to find a barrel........

@wphlea - they were all covered with terra sig. A couple had a few chips. I may switch to burnishing them if I catch them at the right time.
