Were always dutifully informed of the 80;s synth user icons that were the trendsetters such as Depeche Mode and the Obligatory kraftwerk. Never do we hear of people like Dolby who to this day are criminally ignored for their contribution. neither kraftwerk or Depeche mode influenced me. It was people like Dolby, New Order, Trevor Horn etc etc.
THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU! I saw this when first broadcast and it has stayed in my head ever since, particularly the PPG arpeggio...I never thought I'd see it again, and then you came along, you hero. It's wonderful and you have made my LIFE!
Yeah! Now that's cool! He's got a Waldorf PPG wave, a very rare analog synth now, and his drum machine briefcase is 20 years ahead of it's time....very cool, thanks for this upload-this guy is so innovative and deserves to be recognized for his contributions to modern electronic music, I think.
@mysticradio If you're still interested, I could come up with them. I've gotten the electric bass part down, and will be doing keyboards and guitar next..
Yes i've got that, i will upload it in the next couple of months, keep a look out for it. Tracks are:- Europa, One of our submarines, The jungle line, Science and airwaves.
Thomas Dolby is a great artist and a true synth wizard. His eccentricity reminds me of my own professor while I was studying in a University. He looks like him. His name is Lloyd George and he is also nearly as prodigiously talented as Thomas Dolby. Interestingly, he is also a big fan of Thomas Dolby. I once gave him the 'Airwaves' album as a gift.
Love the sequence at 1:20 to 2:20 : what's song is it ?

Dolby never ceases to amaze me.
He deserves way more recognition than he's received. A true pioneer in electronic music.
