    ...I love you.

  • Yo Pete!, will we see (listen) more of you on 'Wait Wait Don't Tell Me'?

  • NOT NOW SMACK xD

  • Steven Colbert told Bill O'Reily that he had no writers. That he was improv.

  • It's a joke.

  • Heh, forgot I even wrote this. Highday. I figured it was a joke, but not a very clever one given the lack of research.

  • and u believed that?

  • I honestly don't even remember what this was about. Maybe I did? About Steven Colbert being improv? Nah, I knew he had writers.

  • did the strike work?

  • lol that was funny/

  • i just want the two flat panel lcd's in the background! Thats all!

  • I'm fvckin banned! from half the boards now, that's why your so goddam lame!

  • these jokers just lift good content from the web by hanging on message boards. If I had a dollar for everytime one of my internet memes or jokes was used on their show I'd have at least a hundred dollars.

  • HA is that the guy from the jack in the box commercials? and people make money from youtube all the time

  • Sonic Actually..

  • I think this is Colbert himself, look at his hairline and look close...

  • He writes for Colbert, that's why his comic style would look and seem like it's Colbert.

  • your retarded

  • Nope ..its a writer , also an actor in Sonic commercials.

  • Yeah i know, but striking similaritys... Creepy. ( =

  • lol

I miss many names, you get the picture :)

  • wii by the tv!!!!!

  • lol i just noticed the wii.

  • hahaha "you dont just FIND a Waterworld" LOL I remember not only myself & the ppl I was with walk out in the beginning of this movie to go get a bite to eat - anyways thx for the video upload.

  • They make between 300,000 and 50,000 IF they have a full-time gig on a show.

Guess what? Most don't have a full-time gig most of the time. Think about how many shows get cancelled. That's a dozen writers looking for a new gig.

  • Woo! You're back!

  • Whoo it's settled now and everybody is happy! Especially me watching Stewart and Colbert!

  • Yup, probably A LOT more than you. LOL.

  • lmao!

  • I sent some hatemail to the networks :P

Not sure how the whole media outlet thing works, but just pay the goddamn writers so I can get my Colbert & Stewart fix. PAY THEM NOW!

  • lol!

  • You are incredibly ignorant. The writers don't make very much money at all. The only way Hollywood can pay actors, directors and themselves such huge salaries is by paying writers and others a pittance. The writers definitely deserve to be paid on what they create. It supports them in between jobs.

  • Who ever said they think they're "worth so much?"

You're acting so ignorant it makes me sick. I personally really really hope you're just being satirical with this comment, I really do, or else humanity is officially lost.

Writers are just people trying to make a living. What's happening here is the writer's bosses making even more money off their work, and then not paying them. They deserve to get paid for their work.

  • You guys are amazing. Best of luck in settling the strike.

  • Wow, it's like Stephen Colbert's words with a different face. The whole show seems to be filled with these brilliant, similar-minded people.

  • You cannot put money into the television either so what is the difference? Both generate the same amount of watchers and yes in the future the television and internet will be combined as will all media. There are many facts that point to this; just look all around you.

  • i concur.

  • This is SO funny... but sadly so true. Good luck WGA.

  • FIRE THE WRITERS!

they can be replaced, all Colbert has to do is shout out the front door and people will start lining up.

  • They cannot be replaced because people are used to and tune into consistancy. That way they are drawn to the programs and that has everything to do with the content which is the contribution of the writers. They are absolutely aware of the subject matter and they are what makes people regular watchers. If you replace them you might as well replace everything because it will never be the same again.

  • This actually makes the writers seem immature. Besides, it's not particularly funny, and they difinitely borrowed the endangered tiger line from South Park.

  • Interns rely on the writers like proteges. Without writers there are no interns. You really are numbnuts so why do we even bother?

  • You can't replace writing talent. Firing all the writers on strike is just not a viable option. And, you make it seem like all NBC employees are writers. They are not. Even if an NBC employee did say something that insensitive, 1) what does that have to do with the writers, and 2) opinions of NBC employees are not representative of NBC itself. It is akin to saying that Wal-mart hates hip hop because you overheard one of its employees saying that.

  • I dunno....kinda predictable, doncha think?

  • LOL thats the best thing I saw all day

  • Do you even know WHY they went on strike? Shut up.

  • This made me laugh. I would say more about it, but my writer is on strike, as well. Me no talkie good without Frank.

  • Hilarious!

  • Hey dude, Is your writer on strike too?

  • ha, that was pretty good. but I'm pleased to say I am enjoying my writer-less Colbert Report, although Stephen probably isn't.

  • lol yea its actually funnier without the writers, especially the esteban colberto thing. lol

  • Hey! The writer's are standing up for what they think is just. They're being cheated out of a ton of money here. Don't you ever think that if everyone did give a shit about other people's problems the world might be a nicer place? You're certainly not making that dream a posibility here. You want people to give a shit, give them reason to; don't take it out on others with pointless name-calling.

  • I like to wathc Jay Leno without the writers....its much better!

  • AWESOME!!!! prol with humour... yum.

  • Colbert is so much funnier without writers!

  • It's true. I watched his show Wed. and Thursday, and it was absolutely hysterical. Colbert is a genious. He is better and funnier just letting him loose and do his thing.

  • Welcome to America. Where you can work for a multi billion dollar company and make 10 dollars an hour if your lucky, while the owners don't do shit except worry about their money.

  • lol a "non-endangered birthday tiger" nice. do u have ur own "colber report/daily show" kinda show? because u should, lol ur funny.

  • MORE HEROES!!!

  • MWAHAHAHA!!!

    You guys rock...

    Keep on keeping on.

  • I'll write for TV for no money at all!

  • They have such a double standard.

One the one hand producers try to make people feel guilty for downloading MP3s or shows because the the writers, and then they don't even want to pay them themselves!

  • It's a satire portraying a greedy and shallow entertainment executive.

  • This is a satire.

  • not sure if it was a good way to portray the writer's side.

  • The person in the video is supposed to be an executive/producer, NOT a writer. Which is why he's portrayed as such a greedy, shallow bastard.

  • umm, I think this is supposed to be a producer, not a writer...

  • i Imagine my response should go to you ...you are a writer, maybe you were the one that wrote that january tenth appearance, even though it was recorded in october...that would be prior to the strike right?

hopefully things get settled out for you.

  • Excellent.

  • Exquisite.

And dry as a bone satire.

Not for the little kiddies... too smart.

    GO WGA.

  • HHAHAHAH, Well done sir!!

  • this was pretty funny, he's making fun of the writers more than anything people....

  • not funny

  • On a further note, satire is funny when it is done in outrage at the absurd. Not when it is self serving and self righteous.

  • ok so stephen colbert has just shown you that he doesnt need the writers scripts to do a show. and soon everybody will find an alternative means of getting THEIR MONEY in their pockets. unless the writers' guild have enough money and the personalities to produce these shows.....very soon there will be an inward collapse of that strike and the guild itself will fall apart. cause everyone going to need to get out of that fund.

  • Hey, dude... were not the ones paying you... stop telling us how "awesome" you guys are and how much we need you...we all know that writers do a crapload of work, but it's not like we can do much to help you, though.

  • I agree.

  • ufff

  • Ban computers!!!! OMG no!

  • who cares about the crappy chit that sci fi plays? I want all the GOOD stuff.

  • i am with writers usa... for one life and wordl wonderful...

  • The Colbert Report is going back on air on Jan. 7 with Daily Show. From what the Writers Guild say, Stephen and Jon were forced to. And the shows won't really be the same as they cannot use anything their writers would originally script. Which means no more...everything. OMG. I've already forgotten his segments....COME BACK STEPHEN!!!!!!

  • well u know...

this guy has got some good material

but its people like colbert who have that extra oomph that makes them funny

    this guy doesnt have that.

  • gtfo

  • what the heck does gtfo mean? I'm the type of person who likes to use complete words instead of abbreviations..

  • i agree. I hate george bush so much i freakin want someone to assasinate him, but then dick cheney would become president and then the world would DEFINITELY end because he would DEFINITELY kill us all..it would be worse for cheney to become president because...yeah...you get the point

  • I like the added touch of the Bluetooth earpiece. It completes the "I am a total douchebag" look.

  • funny stuff.

    I support the writers!!!!

  • So, what's going on now that The Daily Show and Colbert is going back on in January? Who is going to be doing the writing?

  • Isn't this one of the sonic commercial douchebags?

  • LOL! Amazing. Check out this funny site while you're bored and tv-less during the strike.

  • Anyway, the original point is that producers are making money off something the writers made, without paying the writers anything. It doesnt matter how rich musicians are, its FAIR that they get paid when people bu their stuff. Its the same with authors, they get royalties for selling books. So why is it outrageous when screen writers ask to get paid as well? Because they make zero dollars when their work is distributed online, and the producers are making billions.

  • It's Viacom's fault... either they go back, or all those cameramen, assistants, and countless others lose their jobs.

  • Ever heard of solidarity?

  • Solidarity is all great and all, but the crew aren't on strike, and they don't have royalty payments putting food on the table like the writers, so they NEED their jobs.

Whilst supporting the writers is one thing, making sure that the current crew is retained is probably more important on a personal level right now.

That, and they're most likely contractually obliged to do it.

  • Writers don't get royalties (that's why they're striking). The crew's not more important than the writers. ALL employees are equally valuable. "more important on a personal level", do you mean yourself, personally? Cause I'm pretty sure what's important is that the writers get a fair contract, not whether you get to watch the show. Without solidarity, there'd be no unions. I'm sick of hearing how Stewart and Colbert should be immune from criticism while they work with replacement writers.

  • Writers get royalties. What they're striking for is that they don't get royalties when there isn't a physical product, or it's not broadcast in the conventional sense (I.e, internet streaming), but they still get money from reruns and DVD sales (albeit not as much as they want).

As much as crap like this makes the WGA strike prolonged even further, the point is to make the corporations suffer, not the other people with more disposable jobs that are also employed by them.

  • I'm failing to see how putting the show back on the air is making the corporation suffer. It seems as though this turns out really good for everyone except the writers. I don't care how you say it, I am NOT of the opinion that this is a good thing and I won't support it. All employees are equally valuable. The writers deserve a fair contract and some fucking support. That support tends to fade as soon as the fans get their show back.

  • Yeah, but you're saying that all employees are equally valuable, then saying sod the crew, they can lose all their jobs and have nothing to live on for the next 6 months.

As much as I sympathise with the writers' strike, the crewmen shouldn't be made to suffer for the greed of the corporations, and whilst a total blackout of TV would be effective, the corporate executives go back to their mansions and healthy bank balances every night whilst the runners struggle to make rent.

  • If they don't care about the future of union labor, then no, I don't expect them to suffer. I expect they will do what is good for themselves.

  • I don't think the camera crews are lucky enough to have a single national union with the same kind of bargaining power as the WGA, so if they 'care about the future of union labour' they'll be fired for not turning up to work.

And even if they do, then like the actors' and directors' guilds, their guild's negotiations contract won't have run out yet, so they can't be expected to join the picket line because they're still under contract, and if they break said contract they'll be fired.

  • You can be under contract and still go on strike. And as with every strike, it is possible that people will lose their jobs. And that rarely happens. It is hard for an employer to replace good labor, so firing the whole group isn't as easy as it sounds. Its a risk and people are expected to make sacrifices as these are the costs of standing up for what you believe in. Do I really have to explain why we have unions?

  • It's very easy at the moment to replace Crewmen, because of a temporary redundancy caused by the writers' strike, thus without an industry-wide union, the crew don't have enough power to strike effectively.

And right now, having your entire staff either fired or laid off means that not only do they struggle to pay off their loans and put food on their families for however long the strike goes on, but there's no guarantee you're ever going to get the team back when everything's over.

  • They have to make money somehow, I say good for them. Their shows are just as funny as before, and I'm glad to see them both back up on the air.

  • Meant to post that as a reply to another commentXD

  • Ok... this guy just used a Chris Crocker reference... terrible creativity.

  • Hahhahaha that was AWESOME. And just when you don't think it can get funnier, he imitates the "leave Britney alone" guy :D

They did a similar spoof of those opposing the Writer's Guild strike on SNL a number of weeks ago.

  • $9.99 is a lot for a movie download, thats a total rip off already. That doesn't cost them anything to have it downloaded to someone's computer. Its not like its going through a store like best buy, and is on a disc and in a case.

  • in my page youtube want have my writers usa i am with they...

  • qwbushisapos:

oh i do but not latly with the elections going on but I will try to keep bush jokes!

  • what about the executives that do next to nothing and get bigger checks than all their subordinates combined? It's the same in just about every industry
