I've listened to most of your G7 pieces and I think you're pretty darn awesome! If you managed to pull through that darn cursed (but oh so beautiful) Prelude in C sharp minor, you'll get through fine.

Curse nerves! Why can't we all just been born with an off switch? I'm not too pleased with my score AT ALL. I KNOW I can do better... who messes up on a B major scale? I did in my exam!

He was pretty nice... I was sure I would fail, but after all that practice, nerves, horror, stress etc, I didn't really care if I passed or failed, I was so relieved!!!

I got my results though, a few days ago. I passed with 111... not too good, I know, but I was so nervous! I tried taking deep breaths, counting to ten, distracting myself, the works, but NOTHING worked. My breath was so ragged, my knees were shaking and worst of all, my fingers weren't listening to my brain! Any calming tips?

Try not to stress about it - I slipped up quite bad at one point in the exam on this piece but because I recovered quickly the examiner didn't mark me down too much. Try not to get stressed about it - I'm VERY impressed that you are at G6 level at only 13!!!

I have to say, I am doing exactly the same pieces for my grade six this Friday. Your playing has been an inspiration to me... I think I might be ready, but when I enter that room... I'm especially bad with nerves you see... my fingers, knees and almost every other part of my body starts shaking...

Any ideas on how to control this? And any advice on playing any of these pieces?

3488toby: try doing refrain du gondolier (B4). its a romantic song, quite simple and nice. im doing this and toccata. i cant do this one as good as her though. i keep on slipping in 46-52.

I think there were staccatos where there shouldn't be...and at the ending, there's no ritardando. Otherwise, awesome job!

wow... very... brusque! almost aggressive! but much mroe accurate than mine was. I took the exam yesterday and played this, the Suk and the Rodney Bennett. this was my least favourite as I found it a bit repetitive... not the best example of the classical period but ok.

lol.. that's true.. to be precise it's the barouque and early classical.. Glad we didn't take A2 (I took A1).. I nearly did want to take the Gigue until my teacher told me there's a LOT that needs to be put in to that piece (tho it looks simple) and technicality must be brilliant! hi i was just wondering about bars 26, 30, 68 etc, and fitting the triplets into the left hand because i cant do it without slowing down my left hand, and i cant keep it constant when playing the triplets, i was wondering how you did it? please help!!

Try playing one hand and tapping the other hand's rhythm on your leg with the other hand.

Try to get the left hand automatic.

I'm struggling with this bit but tapping it seemed to help me get it.

I've been playing the piano for about 3 years now, and i've been working on this piece since last sept. i think it's pretty easy to learn. all you actually need is just a little bit of practice and you master it already. so i guess this piece is actually a very safe choice to work on.

But you do a really good rendition of this piece. Frankly - I dont know how I did either! My teacher was bugging me about the ornaments so I think that was a plus. Also, at the end of the first section, I think it is only held for 4 beats. But I agree with the examiner, you grasp the style very well!! :D you are a very good player - how long have you been playing?

you are really good I'm doing it as well. I think the piece note wise is easy learn as once you get the hang of the pattern of the phrases its just repetition on different notes. But you are a great pianist.

Definately the best recording of this piece, especially dynamic-wise (and drawing out the melody). Though the grace-notes at the beginning could perhaps be slowed a bit. I really want to learn this too now! Can't stop listening to it, and good luck again on friday! haha

Good luck with the exam :D be careful with the start of that XD you seem to be staccato-ing it a little, otherwise wow go you :D theres no way you'll fail on this or any of the other pieces :D

Hahaha, you picked the same pieces as me! I majorly screwed up the scale in the Rumba Toccata which I was so annoyed about, but they must have not noticed because I got 120! I thought I'd only get a pass.....have you taken your exam yet?
