My mother has one and I bought it for her. I love this! You plug in your old line to this, and you can use this until your is complete and unplug FINALLY from the wall! All porting done from Brighthouse to Ooma! Painless! Went to their website registered this, made an image of the bill, along with typing in old account info from Brighthouse and BOOM 15 days (I know, typical port time) everything was perfect. I plugged the cable into the internet port & router in the network port. :) It's beaut!

This product isn't 100% free. After the first year they charge you $11+ for government taxes. But still it's cheaper then basic phone and more features.

i live in the uk and with my landline broadband phone service is provided by BT and with their home hub you get VOIP HD quality phones for free if you sign up with them for their broadband the quality is outstanding so clear with no static at all. its really good one of the best.

i own an ooma, its great, but for good voice quality you need high speed internet.

I had my first one when I was 18, and living on my own for the first time. But my mother was the only one who had the number, so I gave it up :P But back then (seven years) my internet connection was not the best, so If I where do download something, I had to end it to make a call.

Less and less people are using landlines, at least here in Norway. Many people just have a mobile phone :)

But its easy, cheap and nice! :)
