Yo Elliot, even if this is the case, shouldn't all people of all metabolic types still avoid processed foods and junk? If someone needs high protein from meats, they should be buying high quality grass fed beef, not pumping down McDonald's cheeseburgers right? Most of the foods in the grocery store and their contents have radically changed in a matter of 20-30 years. Your thoughts?
That made total sense to me....I also felt u were talking directly to me as I am statused Inuit and fruit always makes me sick...Don't like salads...I'm ok with veggies though but I love my meat (as well as any organs)...which we usually throw in potatoes...not good...so I try to use Sweet Potatoes now or root vegetables....but anyways I love your videos...always very enlightening....Thank u :)
If my biochemical individuality has been tempered with for 21 years negatively, And I begin to pay attention and eat according to the diet of my ancestors, will my body benefit? Or have I damaged my metabolic to the point of no return?
this is a great segment. i started going by my cravings. being of jewish descent (Mediterranean Genome) after working out for awhile now, running, lifting... i crave olive oil and bread more than anything else. when i actually eat that over the generic
Hi Elliot. I enjoy all your videos. I wish you could do a complete video series on fat loss. Especially for the guys in the 300 range. I"am 5'7 and 298lbs. I work out 3 days a week. Strength training and cardio. For some reason I cannot loose the weight I need. Currently trying the anabolic diet.
yo Elliot what would you recommend for some of european heritage (i have some French Swedish and English in me) and i just started a summer job as a labourer for a brick laying company (very very hard work lol) i know losing fat wont be an issue but i dont know if ill still have the energy to work out/ i dont want to lose muscle, but gain muscle. should i just be increasing my carbs or would someone of my heritage work better with higher fat intake?

@commonsen5e it depends on what you're into.... "do the work" by stephen pressfield and "love wins" by rob bell are both sitting on my mantle right now.
@Recc8es Interesting. I assume that most modern Inuit no longer eat their traditional diet and probably also include many modern "foodstuffs" in their diet today... including hydrogenated oils that literally BLOCK your body's ability to use the fat soluble vitamins (A and D) that are essential for mineral absorption, hence the osteoporosis. Just my guess ;)
the Inuit subjects of analysis lived ~500 years ago
Samples taken from Inuit mummies, found som years ago in Greenland
- The woman suffered from atherosclerosis, or narrowing of the arteries caused by deposits of cholesterol and fat, probably the result of a heavy diet of whale and seal blubber.
- In addition they showed signs of severe osteoporosis, bone-mass deterioration.
Eliot have you read The China Study? Take care big man :-)
@Recc8es I'm not biased towards any diet and have not made any hard statement about what people should eat, besides the invitation to consider our biochemical individuality. You apparently have adopted a position, based on "The China Study" book. That is great! Congrats! Personally, I am weary of any "study" which claims to be "the answer". But if you find comfort in all of these so-called "facts" then I am happy for you.
@strengthcamp It's a similar case with the Maasai of Kenya whose diet consists of very high quantities of animal products (including meat, milk and blood).. all that saturated fat in their diet gives the men as much atherosclerotic plaque lining their arteries as seniors on SAD.. but they don't get heart attacks because
a) high levels of physical activity are thought to widen their blood vessels and
b) they don't live long enough to die of heart attack, their life expectancy is below 50 yrs.
@Recc8es For every "fact" one presents, 100 others will find a contradiction. In my experience most "literature" that takes hard stances in defense of ONE way is propaganda. Vegetarians, Religion, Politics, Economics... everyone has their "proof", no matter what side you take. Metabolic Typing is interesting in that the only proof is in what is working for YOU, not some study or anyone's opinion... YOU and what is good for you based on experience.
@Recc8es Exactly. And their calcium intake is probably dairy, which ironically has been shown to actually INCREASE osteoporosis. Calcium in plants is the beneficial stuff.
How do I do the deadlifts without destroying my back, I did some last week and yesterday my back was killing me, please help. I really like to make those but i always seem to hur my back.
@wickiezulu i dont think biracial people are different when it comes to dietary habits lol.i'm really mixed raced and i dont think there's much of a difference when it comes to single raced and biracial.
@assroaster93 I am also biracial its just that in my case, I got one side of my family that lived in hotter climates who ate light meals with meats, flatbreads, rice, salads with olive oil, nuts, various, herbs and spices.
And another that lived in colder climates, who ate heavy mostly blandish foods (mainly soups and stews) in general, such as fish, dairy, breads, potatoes and pastrys.
@strengthcamp What do you think of atkins type diets? I did really well on it with weight loss, felt stable and good, and had good medical labs with blood pressure and electrolytes. However, the have studies now saying atkins maybe related to diabetes in some way. Does your book talk about an alternative to atkins in a health way
I believe there was a study done, perhaps by Weston Price but I can't remember exactly who it was for sure, but whoever did it had lived with the Inuit tribe in the North Pole for about six months out of the year, and saw that they ate a very high protein/fat/cholesterol type diet consisting of all animal meat, yet they had low cholesterol levels. After that time, they migrated down to America to adobt a western diet, and their cholesterol and insulin levels skyrocket within a very short time.
this makes so much damn sense. I'm asian and i try to eat less carbs. I even cut on too many fruits, and it's killing my energy level. I'm a biology major, yet i never stop to think about this. well, sadly as a biololgy major, u don't really learn that much about nutrition at all.
Yeah, just like Elliot said, everybody's different. A lot of the hollistic practitioners on youtube do go against the high fat/high cholesterol myth which is totally great, but they seem to advocate a high fat/high protein diet with almost no carbs, and that is basically doing the same thing as the medical community, just backwards.
The best courses to take, in my opinion, would be biochemistry and physiology, because at least those will be based off of some science.
@KaozVT I stand corrected, thanks ;) maybe I should do some quick "brushing up" of my understanding before I bang out these vids. I like shooting from the hip though!
Yo Elliot I know it's off topic, but can you put the music of the lil intro in the description box please; it's usually rather enjoyable and I'd wish to hear more of it, before it ends very shortly.
so,Elliott i have a question : you said in your Hybrid Muscle Training doc. that you need to set your goals.

@Miamirules99@Oneshotko Actually for micro-cycles (3 weeks in this case) I work the chest 5 days/week doing everything from 5x15 to 5xheavy singles. I've had good success with this strategy on bench. Used it twice so far and went from 265 to 300 and 300-315). If you eat right, you recover faster and can train more often. Plain and simple.
Elliot your fucking awesome dude, I have a question Im getting kinda fat, i want to have a more toned chest, So can i do chest twice a week?? or more?
@Miamirules99 Hey man, I personally wouldn't train your chest more than twice a week, maybe not even that much unless it's spaced out about 5-6 days between each session because you might slip into overtraining and that will make your chest even worse in a sense, so concentrate on hitting it hard once a week, eat clean but maybe reduce cals slightly if your gaining weight, and get lots of rest to recover your muscles :)

FACTS: The American Journal of Kidney Diseases cites Inuits
have having some of the worst rates of osteoporosis despite high
calcium intake. According to various findings in American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition 11(1963), 27(1974), Human Biology 46(1974),
56(1984), 47(1975), as well as Alaska Medicine 43(2001), bone
deterioration is caused by the increased acidity of high protein diets.
