Miku Hatsune is a Vocaloid. Vocaloid is a virtual singer program for windows computers. She is not a hologram, not an anime character, not a virtual idol by some huge japanese company. SHE-IS-A-SINGER-IN-A-BOX THAT ANYONE CAN USE.

Vocaloid started as an idea and it evolved in the USA by ZeroG Limited with the release of the first singers, Leon and Lola. The program's roots are english. Miku is just the one who made it so famous.
