@ENDONASOURNOTE Nah. I've got the wife and kids to worry about.
I was toying with the idea of a 1-series coupe, but the depreciation on any new car, especially a luxury one, is too steep for my liking. We make a comfortable living, but it's not much more than that. The wife has her Envoy, and I have the Mazda. Both had to fit car seats/kids, so four doors was a must.
But in about 13 or so years, I'll buy something really nice, after I publish a bunch of books. But a house is priority #1. lol
@ENDONASOURNOTE (con't)...and they would gain the skills and tecniques necessry to design long-lasting, vault-like German automobiles.
Well, the young enginneers didn't know how to design very well, as they lacked the experienced hand guiding them, so quality fell through the basement on most German cars, especially Mercedes.
After a couple of years of outrageous warranty claims all over the world, the OEMs started begging the now-retired engineers to return. Most were disgusted and did not.
@ENDONASOURNOTE True, but a funny thing happened in Germany circa 1999-2000-ish: many of the major OEMs (Mercedes included) decided to cut costs to the maximum to boost their bottom line. They did this by squeezing suppliers to death, so parts were more defective. Even worse, they fired the senior engineers because they earned a high salary, designing reliable and fast Autobahn burners. What used to happen, was these wise old men would teach the young engineers while they were new...
@ENDONASOURNOTE No Porsche with the engine in front is a real Porsche, in my opinion.
The Cayenne is just a re-skinned VW Toureg. In other words, overpriced, overcomplicated junk.
A durable Porsche is an air-cooled Porsche, brother. That would be a 993-series or earlier. All 911s after that are fragile, mechanically. Very un-Porsche-like. I won't buy a new one for this reason.
If Dr. Ferdinand or Dr. Ferry Porsche saw what has become of their once-leading company, heads would roll.
The whole negative criticism is crap. This is by far the best (most novel) Porsche ever made. I cannot stand the lookalike, Lilliputian Porsches 911, Boxter, Cayman. The Panamera looks surprisingly imposing even though it is not an LWB model. For me if a car in this segment is not an LWB, I won't hear of it. But Porsche Panamera made it different. Panamera is one superb car.
@IIAJIOMHuK thank you, this is a thing of beauty and it goes way better dan a 911, drove both a panamera an a 911 and i chose the panamera to buy, and everyday getting in the car, am glad i choose it
This guy should change the job. He just looks totally unmotivated and bored!
What's up with you man? This is an amazing car full of energy, power and passion! You are a bad match !!! Maybe you should try to present a 1984 Fiat Panda!
this guy hated it even before he saw it. i didn't like this review at all. theres nothing wrong w/ new things, and obviously if ur gonna make a 4 seater, ur gonna make it a good 4 seater. y wud u give give it 4 doors and 4 seats and make the passenger experience trash. 911 = performance, not an oil gauge and shitty back seats. and this performs like a...wait for it...a 4 door 911! its like going to a batman movie and being surprised and disappointed to find a guy running around in a bat costume.
So i guess i'm in the demographic of people who love this car. it's beautiful!!! I LOVE it! So what if it's not a 911 with four doors? What if it's passenger focused? It's still got the right DNA, but they improved everything to the cost of a little bit of sport... still a porsche though. You still get a LOT of sport.
well Im 24 and I love this car too! I mean it makes financial sense to buy a panamera if you need a cool ride. Having 2 'sittable' seats at the back also helps getting the budget approved by your wife =)

@ENDONASOURNOTE Very nice, brother.
If I had a substantial windfall tomorrow, I would have an SLK AMG w/6-speed gearbox. All of the power, none of the pain of most sportscars.
Alas, I'm stuck with a lowly Mazda 6. Still a great car to drive though. But it's no Mercedes.

If you are a 911 guy then buy a damn 911. This car is great. Jaguar's new XJ is competing with this. That is not a sports car.
