The alien brings an end to humanity and the cat/panda couple represent a post-human world. The cat is feminine and the panda masculine and the love story reverses those traditional gender roles (where the man usually overcomes obstacles to rescue his love). Betraying his life with nature and his love to go to a nuclear mass production facility reminiscent of the past, his habits ruin him as nature simple isn't compatible with something as alien to earth as mass production and nuclear waste.

The Cat and the Panda are friends. The Alien comes and asks the Panda to come and play with him for a while. The Alien uses the Panda as a breeding ground for the tiny alien.

The Cat can't accept the fact that the Panda is dead, so it continues on as if nothing happened.
